Guest guest
Hi all, I recently took my daughter (she'll be 6 at the end of March) for her dental checkup. The dentist recommended dental sealants. Anyone have any experience with these? Thanks,
Guest guest
My kids had the sealants. I wanted them for myself, but they would not do it. (Some dentists do for adults.) They help to prevent tooth decay. Caution: no eating hard candy, taffy, Now or Laters, etc...once you have them as insurance only covers them one time! Taffys and hard candies can pull the sealants off. They are a good idea. " A true measure of love is how much truth you are told. Guest guest
There are some real concerns about sealants because of the very nasty chemicals used to make some of the sealant resins -- you should, at a minimum very carefully research the exact product your dentist intends to use. Also, there are many reports of decay developing under sealants and going unnoticed because of the sealant, causing more damage than would likely have occurred if the tooth was unsealed and the cavity could be detected earlier. I would approach cautiously. > > > My kids had the sealants. I wanted them for myself, but they would not do it. (Some dentists do for adults.) > They help to prevent tooth decay.
