Guest guest
The bottom line for me about this woman whom I have been asked to judge by virtue of her asking me for my vote, is I cannot escape the feeling and the knowledge that there are only 24 hours in a day. Yes, she can offload the job of raising that baby, and the baby will be fine because she can afford to hire experts, but I have absolutely no reason to believe that she can do it herself nor that she realizes what she's in for and because of this she does not have the depth of understanding that comes only from experience to adequately represent those of us who struggle with this 24/7 for years and years. To suggest otherwise is to suggest that the rest of us are lolligaging time wasters and not competent to the task of running the United States and raising special needs kids in a country that does demand that we come up with our own health insurance in the face of mathematic reality that we do not have $1200 each month extra to purchase a product that if we're lucky will allow $1500 each year of neurodevelopmental therapy. That's three visits to my son's developmental pediatrician. As if that were enough to cover the required therapy. As if we have $1200 each month. Because my kids needs have eluded public support (schools, doctors, etc.) I have had to do it myself, homeschooling, which means I have not been able to work, so what health insurance? What money for therapy and diagnosis? Let alone clothes? This is absolutely the product of underfunded schools, underfunded IDEA - at 45% - clearly public policy issues that need to be addressed. And while the Republican party is genuine in their quest to reform schools with private competition - something that I believe is necessary, my concern is that they do it to the degree that leaves poor people scrambling to get their kids an education. Why don't they just fund up and do a better job of scrutinizing what's going on in the schools (with our money)? So, so far, this woman does not represent my reality.
