Who makes the diagnosis for apraxia?

I think my son has apraxia. I am not for certain. He's 3 and is in

the school system in the Co-op where we live. He was assessed by the

Speech Pathologist and Diagnostitian. We agreed he belonged in the

program for 3 year olds. They explained to me that his speech

development was at an 18 month old level. He would be placed in the

PPCD program for a 1/2 day. During his 1/2day, the SP would spend 30

minutes 3xweek with him. He only went for 1/2 day for a month before

the summer started. In the fall he started back to half days. Due to

some issues with transportation, we called an ARD meeting to fix that.

Now my son goes all day and gets much more ST. Now he gets ST 4xweek

for 45 minutes. He is making some progress but we are still having a

HUGE behavior issue. He has hit the teachers and throws tremendous

tantrums. He gets sent to the Prinicpal's office and he's only 3. I

feel extremely frustrated with his teacher and her impatience with

him. I don't get the same quality of fits from him when we are at

home. I am getting close to the end of my straw with her. I have

many, many issues to talk about (but that's for a later time.)
