Guest guest
Hi - it's been a long time since I've been on this forum - have gone the way of serious biomedical via the Yasko protocol(if anyone wants any info about this genetics-based protocol, please feel free to email off-line as I know the moderators don't like talk of the really in-depth biomedical stuff here. For us, 8 months into it, it has been amazing). Anyway - I recently came upon some really great videos that my son just loves. They are from PreSchool Prep Company and are called Meet the Sight Words (3 volumes of sight words). They also have Meet the Colors (numbers & shapes, also). It is all about memorization, but the way they present it is so well-suited for children with apraxia. The words are presented on the screen in cute little ways and they are just repeated over and over, very slowly. Repetition is so key with apraxia and the slow pace allows him time to process the motor plan. My son is still functionally non-verbal, but he has been repeating words from this video. He is also using his alphabet tiles to spell the words and then tell me what he has spelled! Very cool.
