Guest guest
Hi June, We have a Cigna Open Access plan that is privately funded by my husband's employer as well. Here is what I found out when I made several rounds of phone calls. However, I must say that because my son is under 3, all of his therapy has been covered by our EI program so I have not had a need to bill insurance. So, I don't really know how this info would hold up when it came down to paying the final bills. On 1/22/2008, I was told by Vivian C. that speech therapy is included under short term rehabilitation. There would be a $40 copay that is standard for all specialist visits, and there is a maximum of 60 visits for speeech. On 2/4/2008, M. confirmed, 60 visits under short term rebab is covered at $40 copay/each visit. Like I said, I never had to test this information, but it might be worth noting nonetheless. Also know that for each positive response I got, I got at least 2-3 negative responses too -- ones where I was told that unless he suffered a stroke or severe injury that caused him stop speaking. You just have to be persistent until you get what you want! Good luck to you all!
