Guest guest
Hi Pam Catching up on email I noticed this. I started with Kefir, and traded with someone for KT. Now I do both. And when I have too much kefir grains, I " convert " them to use for unpreserved juices. So it is not the actual water kefir grains but they do a decent job. My best brew has been my own ice wine. I love frozen grapes as a treat in the summer. Well after summer I don't crave it anymore. So last fall I pressed the juice out of them and set them up with the grains. I had a very nice drink at the end of it. This year I made fresh homemade crab apple juice. And set up a bathc again. I am hoping for a nice treat this Christmas when we open it up. So if you can't find water Kefir grains, but can find (or already have) kefir grains, just rinse them well, put them in a suggar water base (1 cup water to 1 tablespoon sugar). And let them sit 2 weeks, change the water, sugar again and let them sit another 2 weeks. Then you can use them with juice & fruit. These grains won't grow like in milk. And can't be used in milk again. They will also take on the colour of whatever juice you put them in. So only do this with extra grains. I usually brew in my fridge, because the result gets too fizzy at room temp, too quickly. And I don't want accidents. There are many experiments that had gone on in my fridge. nna > > I was wondering how many people here are into water Kefir as well? Guest guest
One Tablespoon to a cup or 2 is fine. Things don't happen as quickly as with milk kefir, but you can smell & taste in about a week to see if it is right or not. Did you convert them using sugar water first? Even the sugar water has a kick to it after a week or 2. Have fun trying. Let me know how it goes. nna Re: I was wondering... > > > Thanks so much for all the info. > I have some in some juice now. > using some extra grains. > about a tablespoon to a cup? > > don't want to kill too many until I see id it works. > > But from what you say... > I am in for a treat > Pam > > - In kombucha tea , nna Fedoryshyn > <robmar888@s...> wrote: > > Hi Pam > > > > Catching up on email I noticed this. > > > > I started with Kefir, and traded with someone for KT. Guest guest
I did not use sugar water first. Guest guest
I don't know if this will help as I'm type 3, but before I took my driver's test and got my license I had an evaluation from my MDA clinic. They had a driving instructor who worked with me to make sure it was going to be safe before I got my license and hit the road. We started out on a closed course and then moved on to public roads. They had hand controls in the car and I'm pretty sure they could do the same thing with a van. Have you asked about it at an MDA clinic? The thing with SMA is that everyone seems to be at different levels of strength and movement. If you have access to a program like that they could help determine what equipment you would need to be able to drive. Good luck! -------------- Original message -------------- does anyone know if it's possible for a type two sma person can learn and drive a car/van?? if so please share this info because i want to really look into it. so far i cant really find anything on this subject for individuals like us... thanks inadvanced A FEW RULES * The list members come from many backgrounds, ages and beliefs So all members most be tolerant and respectful to all members. * Some adult language and topics (like sexual health, swearing..) may occur occasionally in emails. Guest guest
I have SMA 1 and I am learning to drive, so I see no reason why you cant check into it. It will all depend on the range of motion / stability (balance) / and strength you have. And what kind of programs are near you that can offer evals and training. My site is http://www.independence4amanda.com and it has pics of the equipment that I am going to be using once I start my training and when I actually get my own vehicle. Good luck! --- lilredhalo <lilredhalo@...> wrote: > does anyone know if it's possible for a type two sma > person can learn > and drive a car/van?? if so please share this info > because i want to > really look into it. so far i cant really find > anything on this > subject for individuals like us... > > thanks inadvanced > > > > __________________________________ - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail. Guest guest
There have been a few of us behind the scenes that have talked about getting CHERAB moving in a more aggressive direction for research and awareness for all and there are quite a few great ideas going around and at least one plan that is very news worthy for the media. It shouldn't be long for our new website to be finished by (and those helping him too) We want to make sure that once monies are raised they are able to go quickly & direct to the projects planned. Throughout the years CHERAB has been a volunteer based nonprofit but it's become clear that without any money we don't have much of a voice. And we are here to bring " our cherubs a smile and a voice! " So stay tuned. =====
