Guest guest
I don't know where you are located, but we were very pleased with the Princeton Speech Language and Learning Center. Guest guest
PROMPT, oral motor...and other. We are in northern NJ and just going over options if anyone can recommend someone. Is it important that they work IN the mouth as well? We are very new at this- so this would be our first therapist- so I don't know what makes a good one or bad one! are centers ok? these places cost half as much as private (sometimes!) yet have a wait list I was thinking of putting us on? any experiences with this? what kinds of questions do I want to ask the therapist? thank you- Iveta

Guest guest
Are you local to Manalapan? We are in NJ and have a WONDERFUL PROMPT trained therapist who works IN the mouth and around the mouth. VERY intense oral motor work. Today our son received a kit of " speech whistles " that are used as exercises for the mouth. I can honestly admit our son went from not trying to speak to repeating single syllables within 2 months of starting speech therapy. It is NOT cheap, but worth every penny invested! The first word came during his 3rd week and it was " eat " and that word was worth EVERY penny of the $200 we spent on the therapy. The best part of the whole thing is that there is a double sided window that I watch through to see the " PROMPT " movements and I can hear what they do. This makes for homework so easy! I can reinforce everything she does with him. The center we go to is " Child Achievement Center " in Manalapan. While there are more than just the therapist we use, I cannot state how good the other therapists are. Our therapist only works part time (Mondays and Thursdays), and I wouldn't trade her for the world! We received services through early intervention prior to going the private route and for 6 months + of speech therapy our son learned NO words. We drive about a half hour to get to speech and the drive is worth every minute! If you want more information regarding the specific therapist we use, drop me a note! Theresa gibs2000@...
