Hi Bree,

I am from Australia so can't talk about Florida. I just wanted to say that

I find stress increases my pain levels. You have had one hell of a lot of

stress lately.

My head says to reduce your stress first. Give your body and yourself time

to adjust to the big gap in your life. Learn to meditate, do some

strengthening exercises and start to concentrate on eating healthily to get

your body in prime condition. If you can afford it go for a regular

massage, or con a friend :)). If you do this you will have more chance of

good recovery after surgery. Your whole body needs to be strong and at the

moment some of your body weaknesses will improve with time.

My heart says " you aren't feeling her pain " .

I've been a member for a while now, but I haven't been very active. The reason

I originally joined this group was because my now 3 year old daughter had speech

delays. She has had a burst of language in the past month and has just

completed speech therapy in home. I think she is on her way to talking more.

We are working on getting her to speak correctly. She is still somewhat hard to

understand but has progressed a lot.

Right now my main concern is my 19 month old daughter who has yet to speak a

word. She had just started to babble a little bit but most of her communication

is " uh uh " sounds. We are planning on having her evaluated for therapies. I'm

hoping to learn more about how to help her as I know that new therapies and

ideas to deal with speech delays change over time.

i am also a single mom of a son who is 12 getting ready to go into middle school. I opted for the private school route this year as 'inclusion' in regular classes has not been easy for him. I have tried the IEP meetings to no avail to get him into smaller classes, so hopefully the private school will be better suited for him.

My son is absolutely into SHARKS! That is his primary focus. His handwriting is poor and his grades aren't great either. I have started a nonprofit organization called The Asperger Child here in Florida. It's going good so far, just at the beginning stages though. TheAspergerChild.org

I have been a member for awhile, but will reintroduce myself. I am a single mom to an 11 year old boy with Aspies. He will be starting junior high next year and I'm trying to be as proactive as possible (i.e. buying a combination lock so we can practice that all summer long). He loves the weather and blogs about his life on his website: www.bestweatherboy. com. He turned his blog into a book that you can buy (or just read it for free online).

I am also a single parent of an 11yr old boy who is still in the process of

being diagnosed. Things are really difficult and he is out of school just now

as they couldn't cope with him and as we dont have a diagnosis then they don't

know what else they can do for him.

I have been fighting for more than 2 years now and seem to be getting nowhere.

Saw Psychiatrist yest with him who says she doesn't think he is depressed (even

although he is talking about selfharming more and more) so she is going to speak

to Psychologist again about the ADOS test which my son refused to co-operate

with.

I am currently signed off of work as am struggling to cope with it all and don't

know where to turn now. I have him with me 24/7 so don't have any time to build

up my own strength. He has been banned from al groups I have taken him to due

to his agressive behaviour with people. He was bullied at his last school and

thinks everyone is having a go at him even if they are having a joke.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks

does his symptoms fit that of AS? May he also have symptoms of other things such as ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Anxiety, etc... A bunch of other diagnoses can confuse the psychiatrists (isnt that funny), but having the right tools and explantations in front of you will greatly help fight for what is right and possibly get your son disability.

Does he have an IEP within the school system?

I really feel for you . Hang in there. I know how you feel. I took 3 months

off work this year. Make sure you look after yourself. I know I went down hill

for a while always crying at inappropriate moments. I go jogging every second

day. Even walking in the rain with a rain coat or umbrella with the dog is

relaxing I find.

Take care and I so wish you find some light at the end of the tunnel. I

know you will I am sure. Hang in there .

Kind Regards .

,

You really need to take a few minutes for yourself.

As for your son....I wish you the best of luck. She is probably at a very high frustration level right now and thus causing some of the aggressive behaviors. I went through that with my daughter about 2 years ago to point she tried to strangle her bus aide. The teachers at school were having a hard time wtih her so they moved her from public school to special services school district, then she was being bullied everywhere she went, and the bouncing from one type of specialist to another was the last straw for her. Keep reminding your son of all his positive aspects and praise him every little thing he does and keep him informed of what is going on and why.

There is also a diagnosis they may give him of Oppositional Defiant Disorder and work on some counseling for him. See if you can also get him a male mentor to help with him. I am not sure where you are located but I went through some similar things as well with my son who is now 17.

Best of luck,JoAnn

I have an 11yr old boy with Aspergers and ADHD. I can undersatnd your

feeling. I was so desperated before his diagnose two and half years ago due to

his horrible behavior. Before we started biomedical treatment in 2008 summer he

was so hyper and misbehaved and had lots of trouble at school. On third grade

the teacher said they could hold his grade. I cried a lot.

We went treatment with DAN, yasko's protocol and Zyto with Payne. He

is much better now. But we are still not there yet. They find my son has lots of

bacterias/virus and metals. Each time we address bacterias/virus he is better.

I am also in another group BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism which

gave us a lot of help and I learned a lot from there.

I have an 11 years old boy with Aspergers and ADHD. I had your feeling and

cried a lot! Before my son was diagnosed two and half years ago we didn't get

into any treatment and he was terrible at school, no friend, very hyper,

misbehaved. In 2008 summer we started him on DAN protocol, then Amy Yasko's

protocol and Zyto with Payne recently. Both lab work and Zyto show that

he has bacteria/ virus issues. Each time we addressed bacteria and virus he is

better. Through the treatment in 2008 summer he was doing much better on

2008/2009 school year and the teacher said he could not believe he changed so

much and he was as normal as his peers. Last summer we didn't take care of the

bacteria and virus and at the beginning of fifth grade(fall of 2009) his

behavior was back and very hyper, not following direction at school.

In Nov. of 2009 we treated his bacteria/virus for three weeks. Right after

Thanksgiving he was back to school and his teacher told us all of the sudden he

became much better, listening, following directions.

Now we are still on the journey and he is better and better.

There is another group BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism with many

very experienced mothers there. I learned a lot from them and got a lot of help.

Hi Kate, I have been reading ie's blog and I love it!! He is so much like my son, it's incredible! I've commented a couple of times and he's sent nice notes back! I love reading about his Scouting experiences, my son is also in Scouts. I especially liked seeing his pictures, where he's wearing shorts and everyone else is wearing pants! That is my son!! He hates wearing long pants even when it's very cold.

I hope he keeps writing the blog. My husband and I both chuckle over the similarities!

Tell him to keep up the great work!

Patty,What is the link between bacteria and autism?Thank you,AmyOn May 20, 2010, at 9:43, "lizhengus" <lizhengus@...> wrote:

I have an 11 years old boy with Aspergers and ADHD. I had your feeling and cried a lot! Before my son was diagnosed two and half years ago we didn't get into any treatment and he was terrible at school, no friend, very hyper, misbehaved. In 2008 summer we started him on DAN protocol, then Amy Yasko's protocol and Zyto with Payne recently. Both lab work and Zyto show that he has bacteria/ virus issues. Each time we addressed bacteria and virus he is better. Through the treatment in 2008 summer he was doing much better on 2008/2009 school year and the teacher said he could not believe he changed so much and he was as normal as his peers. Last summer we didn't take care of the bacteria and virus and at the beginning of fifth grade(fall of 2009) his behavior was back and very hyper, not following direction at school.

In Nov. of 2009 we treated his bacteria/virus for three weeks. Right after Thanksgiving he was back to school and his teacher told us all of the sudden he became much better, listening, following directions.

Now we are still on the journey and he is better and better.

There is another group BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism with many very experienced mothers there. I learned a lot from them and got a lot of help.

patty

I have tried the IEP meetings to no avail to get him into smaller classes, so hopefully the private school will be better suited for him.

I have been a member for awhile, but will reintroduce myself. I am a single mom to an 11 year old boy with Aspies. He will be starting junior high next year and I'm trying to be as proactive as possible (i.e. buying a combination lock so we can practice that all summer long). He loves the weather and blogs about his life on his website: www.bestweatherboy. com. He turned his blog into a book that you can buy (or just read it for free online).

i will pray for u i am going thru the whole diagnosis process now & it is  not

as black & white as the questionaires make itout to b there r to many variables

i really have a hard time being objective he is my baby & i wish i could protect

him from the world but i cant. joey takes the bullying because he thinks that

the kids will like him & he has the biggest heart & i try to explain things to

him & he just cries when i ask him to repeat & explain to me what i just said to

him. so ill pray for u. & thank u for the letter
