Guest guest
Hi, son is now 7. Swallowing a capsule/tablet would be a great help. He takes it in his mouth, takes a great gulp of water. Swallows. Then shows me the capsule still on his tongue.
Guest guest
Hey -good news there is hope even for a child that doesn't seem to learn how to do it time after time after time. One day -you'll be cheering too! Here's some tips from the archives..of course again you guys are fortionate because we didn't have the Jr. sized capsules to learn with! (BTW just want to add that for years Tanner doesn't have to put his head back anymore) Re: Trick that may work for swallowing capsules that worked for us Dear Blessed Grandma! Grandma's always do know best! Is this what worked for your grandchild? Perhaps like other things -some apraxic children throw us a side ball and don't always play by the rules of what they are supposed to do. Head down didn't work with Tanner for capsule, pill or even baby M & M's! (which was another trick we heard to have Tanner practice with the baby M & M's to learn how to swallow capsules) Believe me we tried and tried everything and Tanner would always somehow still have the pill or capsule in his mouth after he swallowed the water -until this new thing of putting his head all the way back - and practicing with just the water first. My other son Dakota is able to swallow 5 ProEFA capsules all at once (!!!) and has been swallowing capsules since five years old when we first had him try. For Tanner after over three years -there certainly was enough time to try 101 ways to swallow a capsule -apraxia style! As always - whatever works! =====
Guest guest
Try folding the capsule in apple sauce. Works for my dd. I give all her supplements that way now and it is much easier.
