My son's pediatrician agreed wholeheartedly that an MRI was in order.

She doesn't feel sedation would be necessary, but she too is curious

about if there was any opposite side impact from his bad fall (it has

a word, but I can't think of it now!) We just need to wait a week or

two for the referral to make it through the office's referral

department.

She didn't like that he has word retrieval issues both receptively and

expressively as well as " on " and " off " days where he forgets familiar

objects. He's always done this, but combined with hitting a plateau

with his therapy progress made her agree with me that it makes sense

to take a look. She also didn't think another EEG study would tell us

much. If he is having absence seizures they are probably rare and

wouldn't be seen on random EEG testing anyway. I don't see them

during the day and he's had two sleeping EEGs about 18 months ago.

She also didn't think that seeing a neuro would make any difference.

He's been to neuros before and they would order the same test. His

MRI will be reviewed by a neuro and she can consult with one and refer

us if anything is abnormal. It saves me a specialist copay and a 6-9

month wait so I'm happy. :)

Thanks everyone for your input. I'll update after the MRI.

Miche
