Well...one thing jumps out really loudly, and you can consider as a

possibility.

there is malabsorption

and there is high immune system activity.

Malabsorption can very well lead to high immune system activity

simply because nutrients are not being absorbed so the body is

stressed all over, AND insufficiently digested food compounds are

getting into the bloodstream (leaky gut) and triggering the immune

system. These would not necessarily register as food allergies. Did

you have food intolerance levels taken? Even still these tests are

only guidelines and you could still have food digestion problems.

Being on GFCF diet for 11 months is also in line with this - this

test profile is showing the gut was not healed (food eliminations do

not proactively heal the gut). All other foods besides casein and

gluten foods that are eaten would still be poorly digested and thus

could be a problem. If you are not eating casein and gluten, then it

isn't surprising that they didn't register as a problem.

Even if digestion is not a problem and casein and gluten are not a

problem, if there is malabsorption, there is a problem that can

trigger the immune system.

So what did the doctor think was the cause of the malabsorption? And

what did the doctor recommend to do about it? Enzymes regularly may

greatly help with both of this (healing the cause and fixing the

problem). Are you taking any enzymes of any kind?

Did you see any improvement at all going GFCF? What was the reason

that diet was chosen over the other autism diets?

Have you tested for virus in the gut?

What are your son's problems or behaviors? and other treatments you

have done with success and without success?

Answers to these questions can help brainstorm what you might do next.

thanks,

.

Hi there-

My 5 year twin girls both have apraxia and are starting kindergarten next year.

We decided to do private bc we are so frustrated with the public system (and I'm

a public teacher!!) We visited the school yesterday and are really excited. I

was wondering if anyone has reccomendations for what book, article, anything for

the teacher to read on apraxia. I don't want to give her too much so she doesn't

read it, I need easy reading.

Thank you very much!!!

Also, the school district has said we can have an aide for part of the day

(after our advocate fought for us), does anyone know if that aide can follow us

to the private school?

Thanks again

The Verbal Behavior Approach by Lynch Barbera, it tells you exactly how to

teach language to a child with autism. It was just what I was looking for. It

even has some sign language in it and charts and assessments in the appendix

that are referred to in the text. It's awesome!
