Guest guest
Hello I have a 6 year old with PDD-NOS who was recently diagnosed for Verbal Apraxia. He has lots of one words but cannot say 2 words or more. We have been trying everything but have not seen great results so far. He has had speech therapy[4-5 speech paths] for the last 4 years but none of them gave him a DX for Verbal Apraxia!!!! What sent me on this route was through another group where some of the Moms mentioned about Apraxia[before that I was clueless!!! Finally we got hold of a different Speech Path who did a reevaluation on him and gave the DX of Verbal Apraxia. I am just too too overwhelmed with all this. As he was diagnosed with PDD we have been doing ABA too...now I feel whether I went on the wrong route!! His speech seems to be a bigger issue than his behaviors.I am kind of lost and confused. His social skills are also not that great...but thinking back I feel since he was not able to communicate he withdrew himself....because he loves to have people around him. I am sure some of you Moms would have gone down this path.... I would love to hear from you all, sow
Guest guest
we live in colleyville. my 5 yr old has been through aba (disaster) in the past. he is making progress now with his slp who lets him take the lead. it is empowering for him, unlike the asd minded type slp's who try to " condition " his behavior instead of nurturing language development. feel free to email me directly laura Sent from my iPhone On May 21, 2009, at 12:01 PM, " sow " <sowk721@...> wrote: Hello I have a 6 year old with PDD-NOS who was recently diagnosed for Verbal Apraxia.
