My husband may have a job opportunity there and if he gets the job we

will need to find a speech pathologist in the area for Maddy.

I would prefer to find a center that uses the Kaufman method for

apraxia, since she currently attends the Kaufman Center and is having

great success. That may be far fetched, however.

I plan to speak with Kaufman directly as well to see if she can

recommend a center down in that area, but in the meantime I thought I

would ask here as well.

Thanks,

In 2001 Carnell posted that there was someone interested in

starting a support group in your area...I'll call her but don't know

if that's still an option. I did find one message with an email

address you can call from someone who also expressed interest in

starting a support group

I know Ohio is probably too far for you to go- but there is a wealth

of support in the Cincinnati area!

If you want to start a group I'll share some tips with you. For now

-ask your SLP if she knows of any other parents of apraxic children

that may want to get together with you. It may be you are not in one

of the " cluster " areas, which is kind of the way it is where I am now

in Florida. All Tanner's friends have " normal " speech- ALL!!!

(in Jersey it was SO not like that!!!)

No matter what we are here to help! Also think about posting to the

new Facebook page- as there are parents and professionals joining that

from all over.
