I would ask for the testing results if he has been tested. If he hasn't then ask in writing for an evaluation. You could base your concerns on milestones that he hasn't achieved according to his age and the ASHA website. Since he is on an IEP I'm assuming that he is in elementary school. Here is a website that may help. http://www.asha.org/public/speech/development/communicationdevelopment.htm There are probably other sites with additional info but this one is one that I'm familiar with. You could also ask that your child's ped or neuro doc write a letter stating concerns they have found. This has helped us in the past. Some doctors will let you write the letter and then they'll read it over and sign it or make adjustments then sign it. You don't state what the IEP is for but if you'd like to add sensory issue to it you need to ask for the correct person to also attend the meeting. Where I live it would be the OT. She would have needed to evaluate him before the IEP meeting but maybe you could the IEP time to sign a permission to test for additional concerns. Again I would have a letter from a ped or neuro doc to back up concerns. I don't know ifwhat I'dtold you couodl help but hopefully others will be able to give you additional info.
