We were told Rice Dream is NOT casein free. Pacific rice milk is however

casein & gluten free. We also use Hemp milk which has more protein.

I would think that if you call the company

they should know.

My dd is anaphylactic to dairy & she has

never had a problem in case your concern

is allergy related.

The barley extract culture would make it unacceptable for those wanting gluten

free products.  Casein is only in milk and unless milk cultures are used

somehow--which is not out of the question---they are used in hot dogs, salami

and so many processed foods where you'd never dream to look--except kosher stuff

of course.

And I do remember the debate and called the company myself and they admitted to

the barley culture,  Trader Joe brand is not made with barley cultures and is

said to be gluten free, so that's the one we buy since we are both gluten,

casein free--and actually soy, and corn, and egg,--FREE and more  ... :)

There was a debate as to whether Rice Dream is really casein free --

apparently they made it with some kind of barley extract. Anyone know

if Rice Dream really is casein free?

There was a concern regarding gluten (not casein) in the rice milk.  Barley malt

contain gluten.
