We tested low last year. (21 when the normal is 32-62). We started on

750 mg/day split into 3 doses which was too high for my son. It caused

extreme hyperness and diarrhea. We ended up at 400mg/day split into 2

doses and have worked back up to 600 mg/day split into 3 doses which is

where we are sitting today. A couple of months ago, we retested his

carnitine and he is now within the normal range..47! BTW, we started

with prescription Carnitor but switched to the generic after our

insurance changed. It worked just fine & saved us $30/month.

I am happy to hear of the progress. My son has a language impairment

disorder. We see Dr Agin and use fish oils also.
