Guest guest
Hi, I have a daughter 4 years old, from 2months ago, I asked the district to increase her speech time, also I feel that they wrote some services of speech which is individuel, but I know it is group from my daughter. They said we can gave u 3 hours speech outside, but NO SCHOOL, NO transportation, So now I feel this is very strange, because they said that sher is only 4, also her problem is APRAXIA, and this is SPEECH AND LANGUAGE DEFICITS ONLY, when she is 5 we can provide the school. SO IAM wondering why now they want to take off from her the school, in the main time is this legall, they said she doesnt have any academic goals, or any learning needs, only speech. ALSO i feel what they do with the OT assessement, is not fair. SO MY QUESTION, IAM NOT REQUIRED NOW AS PRE_SCHOOL TO SEND MY DAUGHTER THROUGH< SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM. THIS IS HORRIABLE. WHAT CAN I ASK THEM TO DO?????? by way they said this by phone.
Guest guest
I hope this may help answer your questions. My 7yr old daughter has multiple disabilities--in addition to Apraxia. She has every service and had transportatoin to special preschool that was all covered as far as expenses. But she has a bunch of diagnosis and is now in a self-contained class to get all her services. My two sons required speech therapy at the preschool level, but only speech! So-in NY, if they only qualify for 1 therapy--it does not matter if its OT PT or Sp--they dont have to provide in-school services or preschool. So - I paid for regular preschool like all the other moms and after school- I brought them to the school district speech therapist. I had a choice of sites to bring them--but I did have to bring them myself. They both managed to catch up to their age group with a few months of 1-1 Speech Therapy. They are both typical boys now--in every way! If your daughter did not qualify for OT--you can get an independent evaluation done on your own. Than bring them the results. There needs to be a certain degree of delay before they qualify. She may have been above that degree- so they said she did not qualify. It does not sound like they broke the law--they dont need to provide transportation or preschool for one service only. -- In , caroline yassa <c_yassa@...> wrote: > > >> only speech. > > ALSO i feel what they do with the OT assessement, is not fair. > > SO MY QUESTION, IAM NOT REQUIRED NOW AS PRE_SCHOOL TO SEND MY DAUGHTER THROUGH< SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM. > > > > >
