Guest guest
Through the school district, my 6 year old daughter is currently receiving 2-30 minute individual speech therapy sessions and 1-30 minute speech therapy session with 1 other child each week. I opened for discussion increasing her therapy for the coming year and I have concerns about what the speech pathologist is recommending. She believes that group therapy would be a better way for my daughter to work on her spontaneous speech. Her speech is hinding friends because the kids can not understand her. She wants to take away one individual and add a small group sessions that will have 3-4 kids in it. I told her I wanted to keep group sessions at 2 kids total and she told me she would have to think about it. I was looking for more therapy not less and am worried about giving up an individual session. I know that if I give it up an invidual session, it will be hard to get back. All the research I have done states that individual therapy is best. Can anyone share group therapy successes or failures?
