Guest guest
Thanks Katy, I think that the niacin works the same way as the cayenne pepper in that it increases the blood circulation and allows other things like herbs and vitamin C to access all parts of the body. Liz Liz Hi Liz. Check out this web site: http://www.islandnet.com/~hoffer/ There is some pretty amazing info here. You might find some of it would be interesting for your brother? Guest guest
Dawn, We had our son evaluated for Regional Center services when he was 13, but he was turned down. At that time, they were accepting only kids with " classic autism " - at least in San Diego. We " made do " with a psychiatrist and a psychologist, both paid for by insurance, and a mentor (paid for by us). The mentor did stuff like floor time and little outings, and going swimming in our pool. Sometimes he brought his boys over, which was nice, as his boys were just 's age. The mentor just lasted a couple of years. You might have better luck applying so early. I do know a therapist who is great with very little children, if you want to go that route. There is a great program in t he San Diego Unified Schools called the STARS program. It stands for Successful Transitions Achieved with Responsive Support, or something like that. It starts either in second grade or third grade. There is a very low ratio of kids to staff -- one to five or so. The program is designed for bright kids who have special needs. There were a lot of kids with ADHD or Asperger's, or Tourette's in 's class. Some classes were tailored to the individual. For example, had his own reading group and did his own math. But social studies was done in a group. If I can help you at all, please let me know. Liz On Feb 9, 2007, at 11:59 AM, mommysbudbud wrote: > You live in SD? Guest guest
Tanna, We live in Boston for this year. Dh is on sabbatical this year. Usually we live in San Diego. Both are busy places. In Boston, where we live is pretty urban. In San Diego, it's more suburban. We haven't approached driving yet. Once the weather calms down, I think we will. Here in Massachusetts, there is a company that teaches people with developmental disabilities how to drive. It's expensive, but worth it, I think. Have you tried practicing with the phone, like calling your home phone with your cell phone so he can practice answering? will answer the phone; he just won't have much of a conversation. It's all " yes " ; " no " ; " okay " ; " bye. " It took us a while to get to that point. He used to hang up too. Take care, Liz On Feb 23, 2007, at 1:45 AM, Tanna wrote: > Liz, when you said your son hates to talk on the phone....I had to > tell you that my son hangs up on people. Guest guest
That is great, Liz! Congratulations on a year of good things! My boys are still doing well with TLP. We are on week five. Dana and Garrett, just turned 4, SCD 2 years Celiac, ASD, Speech and Motor Apraxia, sensory processing disorder From: ilizzy03 <lizlaw@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Liz: potty training..please help!!!...any suggestions welcome!!! Date: Tuesday, July 8, 2008, 10:51 PM Hey, I am not in this for the confort:) I recall having a few daytime accidents at 5 and my daughter never has these. I also recall two nighttime accidents at 11 or 12. I think for my daughter it may just be a question of putting her in underwear and toughing it out as she has pretty great control generally. I honestly do not know what is up with my boy. He has some genuine physical dufficulty sitting on the potty. Were it not for that I suspect we would be there or at least further along. One day at a time I guess. Met some new kids at the beach tonight. My son spoke freely and was unafraid. A very different boy from a year ago. Last year to keep him on the beach I had to indulge an alphabet obsession of his. Nuts.
