Guest guest
Interesting . Too bad they couldn't have a more substantial study. Very few children and only 26 kids actually tested . Please keep us updated on your childs progress. -------------- Original message from " Creager " <lisad529@...>: -------------- This article describes my son almost perfectly. We have had many of the tests done and are now in the process of changing our diet radically to see what happens. Hope this helps everyone! http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/07/090714104002.htm

We recently removed wheat from my 8 year old's diet (after being on enzymes for 3 years, and feeling like they were not working as well as they used to...) She has started using language that I did not think she was capable of! Her vocabulary has picked up (which is her therapists biggest concern...I try to imagine that this is the child who had no language 4 years ago!) We had her in a summer camp for three weeks, and the speech went way down, back to the point of being unable to understand a lot of what she said... (They served them snacks, and it was mostly crackers, cheese, etc.) So, I am going to record her speech today, and then in a month, to see if I am imagining things. Good luck to you & your family. Guest guest
My son is 4.5 and we had to self-diagnose him with a gluten alergy. Since taking him off gluten his behaviors have normalized and now the speech is starting. Many people do not realize that a gluten allergy can cause neurological issues, not just physical. His Celiac test came back abnormal, but not all three levels were high. The doctor and alregist didn't want to have us change his diet. We did anyway and fired the allergist. Our son in 1.5 years gluten fee has made a transformation that even we can't believe. He also has a simillar reaction to dairy. Finally we are seeing some research regarding his issues, but we continue to fight different doctors. So many of them do not look at the different possibilites. We are on our road to recovery, but are excited for all of the kids and parents that may not need to go through what we have been going through. My words of advice to anyone is to at least test for the allergies that can affect a child neurologically like gluten and casein. > > This article describes my son almost perfectly. Guest guest
AWESOME!! Yes, a friend of mine in another group said that she knows a lady on the TACA group whose son had MRI and they found white areas in his brain/seizure activity, and the lady did GFCF and supplemented with vitamins/minerals for about 9 months and when they went back to get another MRI, the white spots were GONE! The neurologist was so surprised that he is going to write up some kind of a case study on him for a journal or something. This was from a very reliable source. I saw this book on Google books called " Epilepsy " . The book stated that people with epilepsy should be checked for celiac disease because there is definitely a connection b/t gastro problems and seizures/epilepsy. Very interesting stuff. I am glad you figured it out. I think it is great that we have found a possible cause for our kids' speech problems. If we stop the seizure activity we might get the speech back! Guest guest
We had our DD treated with acupressure for her allergies to foods and her language has really started to evolve! Best thing is we don't have to limit her diet anymore...gluten/casein-free can get expensive! Just FYI... in OH > > > > This article describes my son almost perfectly. Guest guest
- What kind of acupressure is this? Could you share the name of your doctor? Thanks! > > > > > > This article describes my son almost perfectly. We have had many of the tests done and are now in the process of changing our diet radically to see what happens.
