Guest guest
My family and I participated in a study done here in Texas which was done by Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. It was called the simon simplex collection. Don't know what the results of the study were. The doctor heading the study was Dr. Robin Kochel (832) 822-4299. This was a study where the parents taking medication, aside from blood being drawn from all family members was part of the study. And from what I was explained, it was a study which took place and combined the results from families participating in 16 other states. In a message dated 6/8/2009 1:13:39 P.M. Guest guest
I had a friend in Hawaii who was on medications (Prozac, Concerta, Strattera), always something different, and it still haunts me to this day that her daughter and my son have the same speech delay. Their articulation is hauntingly similar. I have never been on medication other than antibiotics when I was young, neither has my husband. Both she and I had a sensitivity to milk though. If you are really looking for a connection, look into food allergies causing mood disorders. IgG is passed from mother to child and I have a monkey study where monkey mothers were given human IgG from mothers with autistic children and their offspring had increased hyperactivity and autistic behaviors. > > Hi, I am wondering if any of the parents were on medications at the time these children were concieved.? > > Also did anyone do a poll about if it runs in families.? > > thanks, > > Joan >
Guest guest
We weren't on any daily meds until well after my son was born. I occasionally took some tylenol during the preg, and was sick enough to take cough medicine once (dr approved). There's no apraxia in the family. There are speech delays, and I've heard that apraxia tends to have a family history of them. > We have no milk sensitivities in the family, but it sounds like your friend has ADD (ADHD?) or depression? There are family members who are bi-polar/ schizo, and ADD also. Wonder if there's a connection. My son's dr told me that neuro issues can change through the generations - an audio processing disorder dad can have a visual processing disorder child, etc. As far as speech being similar- A friend and I have seen a few apraxic boys since my son got dx'ed, and I knew because they seem to sound exactly like my son. My friend is usually nervy enough to ask if their child is apraxic, and they look shocked that she could see it, just based on her knowing my son. > > Hi, I am wondering if any of the parents were on medications at the time these children were concieved.? > > Also did anyone do a poll about if it runs in families.? > > thanks, > > Joan >
