Guest guest
Hi Jill! Due to one story here I typically say to give the fish oils in the AM...and for most of us over the years we did all the oils in the AM for the same reason. What time do you give the oils and do you split the dosage up through the day? Below is a very long message but I found it when I was looking for the trick or treat message and it contains 's son 's story about " night crying " Of course like your son he too surged on the oils in spite of this -but also once she switched to the AM dosing - the night crying stopped. When increased the dosage and gave the second dosage later in the day the night crying started again - and as I always gave all the oils at once in the AM she tried the same and no more night crying! (very long archive -when you think it's over it's not!!) Re: Happy halloween Story Hi !!!! Wow that is such great news. is one of the " old " CHERAB members I talk about -except like most others -she stays around to help all of the new people! I also wanted to add that , her husband, and their son are one of the " CHERAB " families featured in the upcoming PBS documentary on Omega 3's. 's history can be searched here in the archives -and for PBS - provided early footage of prior to the EFAs -so viewers will be able to watch before and after footage. Just a year or two ago, new CHERAB member 's son " a late talker " was diagnosed with apraxia, low tone and sensory issues by developmental pediatrician and Medical Director of NYC's Early Intervention Dr. Marilyn Agin. At the time was so frustrated from not being able to talk he used to bang his head on the floor till purple welts formed. tried Efalex, an Omega 3 (but low EPA)and Omega 6 fish oil formula after joining CHERAB back before we knew about ProEFA -and even though it worked on his behavior, and even though Efalex was a formula that also worked well for a high percentage of our member's children, Efalex didn't help to talk even after 5 months...he was still nonverbal. If lowered the dosage on Efalex from 4-6 capsules a day -or stopped giving any Efalex -the " horrible " behavior problems came right back. When switched to ProEFA for the CHERAB parent feedback - she went to a lower dosage of just one capsule a day -and 's behavior didn't regress -but for 3 weeks he didn't talk. I'll never forget when called me up all upset that the ProEFA didn't seem to work in the one to three weeks like it did for almost all of the rest of us. I remember saying to " well Efalex worked for my son -maybe EFAs aren't going to work on speech for -at least you only have to give one capsule a day now of ProEFA -so it's easier and cheaper " ( -remember?!) Then starting the 3rd week after starting the ProEFA and for 2 weeks after - starting waking each night with " night crying " and even though we all told her to stop the ProEFA and go back to Efalex (including Dr. Agin) kept on the ProEFA. You can amazingly read all this in the archives -it is amazing. 5 weeks after starting - spoke for the first time -and the increase has been steady dramatic. Perhaps -one doctor speculated -the EFAs stimulated neurons in the brain to fire that were dormant before - which was what helped trigger vibrant dreams...and speech. So far only one other parent has reported this side effect however -so it's not common. On another note-when tried increasing to 2 capsules a day -the night crying came back...but a year later - tried giving both capsules early in the day -and this time no night crying. A week later - again had more surges. When I finally announced about the higher EPA - who was talking great already -but a bit dysfluent -was given the extra EPA with the ProEFA -and for the first time was suddenly fluent. ( was going to share it here -so I just did and I'm sure she can add more to this) I know was going to also try the carnosine -however I'm not sure if she did yet -and I too am curious to know! What great news ! It does look like we really are on to a way to help all of our children have a smile and a voice!!!!! (even for words most take for granted, like " trick or treat " ) =====
Guest guest
My kids (apraxic one and non-apraxic one) cannot handle the EFAs at bedtime or even at dinner. It makes them hyper and they have a hard time sleeping. I found that giving them in the am, even larger doses all at once, plus a few weeks time helped this undesireable effect. Guest guest
Thanks for the information. has the exact " night cryings " that describes. It must be related and as annoying as it is, probably a good sign! I do give Nick his two capsules with his breakfast at about 7am. Maybe the sleep problems will fade with time. Is the PBS documentary about the EFAS still available I am sure it would be very interesting? Guest guest
Hi Jill! We don't know what happened with it. All I know is that somehow Dr. Artemis P. Simopoulos was behind it -and there was just about every leading expert in the fish oil (PUFA) world interviewed for it...but we were told that our segment while being the one with the least amount of credentials to support it was by far the most powerful and emotional as you can't really " show " how EFAs help the heart by filming a person before and after taking them. (Jeanne wasn't it the director who said that?) Jeanne Buesser has spoken with the people that directed it to get copies for us. Jeanne? =====
Guest guest
We started up on fish oils more regularly and had a week where my son awakened at 4am no matter what time he went to bed. His Days and nights were mixed up just like when he was a baby. He was also starving at that hour. It was odd. > > Thanks for the information. has the exact " night cryings " > that describes.
