The Law and Disability e-Newsletter - Special Event Announcement

Special Event Announcement, July 15, 2008

Ira M. Fingles, Esq. to Speak at Annual Conference of New Jersey Association

of Behavior Analysis, August 8-9

Ira M. Fingles, a partner with Hinkle, Fingles and Prior, Attorneys at Law,

will present with other experts in the field of autism and other

developmental disabilities at the 4th Annual Conference of the New Jersey

Association of Behavior Analysis.

Fingles will speak on Friday morning, August 8, following the keynote

address in a session called the Right to Educational Services to Promote

Generalization. The only attorney invited to present at the two day event,

Fingles will discuss the legal issues around generalization for students

with autism spectrum disorders. Often, students with autism will show

progress within the structured confines of the school program, but are not

able to transfer skills to the world at large. Fingles will discuss the

importance of generalization, and the legal issues around generalization. He

will describe the circumstances in which home- and community-based

instruction, after school programs and residential placement may be

necessary to promote generalization, and how to secure such services.

The two day conference will take place on August 8-9 at Rutgers University's

Busch Campus Center in Piscataway, New Jersey. For more information, go to
