Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Both myself and my almost 3 year-old son are GFCF. I would love to get a GFCF cake for his birthday when we are up in central NJ visiting my mom. Can anyone recommend a GFCF bakery in central or northern NJ? I hope it's ok that I post this, I just noticed that there are a few people here that live in NJ. Thanks, Tara

Guest guest
At my local Farmers Market we have several venders that do GFCF items. That is the first place I would check and then if I found a vender, place a 'special' order. These gals cook amazingly great stuff. My kids LOVE the GFCF items we have bought from the farmers market. Costs a fortune but the food is completely delish. Janice [sPAM][ ] Re: OT: Bakery Recommendation? Guest guest
Hi Tara! Can you order the gluten free cake from Whole Foods? http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/products/glutenfreebakehouse/index.ht ml Even though the following bakery in Millville is too far south –I'm sure calling they'll point you in the right direction as they appear to be passionate about celiac. (wish it was around when I was growing up!!) " We specialize in Gluten-free (wheat-free) baked goods with an emphasis on dessert items. Our list includes over 30 cakes, nine tarts, nine cheesecakes, seven angel foods, seven pound/luncheon cakes and numerous individual-sized items. We also have available many types of cookies, biscotti and other items. Mr. Ritt's has also added a full bread line including artisan breads such as olive and tomato basil! 10% of the profits made from the sale of this design will be donated to organizations that benefit children with Celiac disease! " http://www.mrritts.com/ This one from PA has a number of locations in NJ they ship to -but not sure about special orders for cakes: " Thank you for visiting The Grainless Baker. Our products are designed for people that are on a gluten-free diet or are restricted from eating wheat, barley or rye products because of allergies. The Grainless Baker is a family-owned business started by my husband Dan and I when I was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue. With 40 years of baking experience between us gained at my family's bakery, the Minooka Pastry Shop, we knew we could make delicious alternatives to wheat-based breads and pastries I could no longer eat. The fresh- baked gluten-free breads and pastries we developed are so delicious you will have trouble telling the difference. Our breads have the texture and taste of wheat-based bread, and our cakes are good enough to serve to an entire party, not just a person suffering from Celiac Sprue. Since we began baking, we have tried to cater to the needs and desires of our customers. As a result, we have a product- line based on my favorite recipes and the suggestions and requests of the wonderful customers we serve. Our products can be found in over 100 stores in several different states. Please see our " Find A Store " link on our homepage for a list of stores we service. We will ship to most places in the US. Call us today and you too could be one of the many people who have been trying and enjoying our great- tasting gluten-free foods. Guest guest
Tara- I'm not sure if this will help or not, but I have a good friend whose daughter makes cakes in the NYC area, which is pretty much Northern NJ and easily accessible from where you'd be. She makes GORGEOUS cakes and is just starting out, so her prices are probably very good. Now-- I know she makes KOSHER cakes and they are all Dairy-Free, so I'd email her and ask her directly if she does GFCF or knows of someone else who would good luck! _henna@..._ (mailto:henna@...) Guest guest
But if she's in Northern NJ, she can DRIVE right into Manhattan herself and just pay the bridge toll. Super easy from where she'll be-- and less expensive becky In a message dated 6/19/2008 7:47:20 P.M.
