Guest guest
I agree with ....one of the many drs (a neurologist) did say that the twins may never speak and " live in the world of the deaf " ....that was when they were almost 3 and at 5 they were talking but not like they do now at 10...they never stop talking!! ? We are still working on that R and I have said many times if we lived in NY I think they'd get away with it...and sometimes the word retrieval problem comes up...like tonight...it's mischief night where we live so the boys were talking about what we do every year..etc...and the one couldn't get the word 'tradition' out so the other said it but it wasn't really?pronounced correctly. I had to say it and then they could repeat it....but what if they hadn't taken those fish pills at 3???? Would they be talking now or had gotten this far?? I really can't find a reason other than perhaps a fish allergy(?) why someone wouldn't try the NN ProEFA.....but I'm biased since it worked for us!!!!!??? ...and it did clear up my oldest son's (without apraxia)?eczema.... Kathy (NJ)?? > > It's so hard with the search function not working right to find out > where it was mentioned -and I don't even know if you meant me or some > other ! Anyway as Myra just said the statement that the way a > child is speaking at 5 is how they will always speak is SO not true. > If anyone needs examples I can archive them...but it will take a bit > longer! > > This may have come from a statement I heard from Kanter who > used to be the executive director for the Summit Speech School for > the Hearing Impaired and Deaf in NJ, prior to passing away of > cancer. > > She said the philosophy behind the oral based schools is that one can > learn to sign at any age, but a deaf child who is nonverbal by the > age of 5 statistically will remain nonverbal.
