Guest guest
I have. I purchased a set through ebay. I played the videos to my son and he wasn't really into it. It was a little, um, boring for him ... i saw him lose interest. So i changed my strategy. I would play it for him while he sat in his highchair eating meal or snacks. and i would bring in the objects they showed on the dvd. In conjunction with his therapist using the same words in their sessions, after a while he started to show interest int he dvd and point to objects he liked and try to say some of the words too. The other dvd he watched are the Signing Time series. When i first saw signed of delay before any diagnoses, i started him on sign language. He also signed after a while to the baby bumble bee dvd's. But I can see he enjoys the signing time a lot more b/c of how animated and engaging the DVDs are. Quite honestly i wasn't impressed with the DVDs but i continue to play them for him b/c i think it helps his cognitive vocabulary grow. -R.M. > > has anyone used the baby bumblebee dvds? > > any comments? > > sharon >

Guest guest
Hi There, Just to add a different perspective...I have not used any DVDs with our daughter. I have gone back and forth on this topic, because I am tempted by the advertising that these programs will help my daughter. But when it comes down to it, I don't believe time in front of a screen will help my daughter communicate with the world. My daughter needs to spend her time playing, moving, observing the world, exploring, trying things out, etc...My gut just tells me that screen time is a waste of her precious time. Sometimes when I am feeling desperate to try anything to help my child speak, I remind myself that training her to learn from a screen is not the direction I want to take her. This is not to say that she will never watch tv. But right now her three year-old nervous system needs to be doing other things. Avoiding screen time seems right for me and my family, but I certainly do not judge those who disagree with me or choose a different path. I just wanted to share my thoughts. Thanks,
Guest guest
My gut tells me that too. If my husband didn't like the Playstation so much I would have thrown it out long ago - it's caused more fighting than anything else! My kids are only allowed to play on weekends and we usually go out and do other things on and off anyway, but STILL, they can't handle it. One of these day's I'm gonna have to put my foot down, and then break it into a million pieces!! > > Hi There, > > Just to add a different perspective...I have not used any DVDs with our daughter. Guest guest
If you watch 15 minutes with him everyday he will have plenty of time doing other things. It is a 15 minutes break for both you from all the other activities. You can talk with him in the mean time.It depends on how much time you spent in front of TV. Guest guest
I bought the set a little over a year ago - and my son loved them - he was 2 at the time - now at 3 1/2 he is bored with them - but definitely when we first started watching them - it helped him talk a lot - plus I think it really helped him learn all his colors and shapes! My son is a visual learner - he has a harder time processing things told to him directly without a picture or cue - so yes I loved them!
