Help/Guidance

Hello,

I need some guidance, my son was diagnosed by a speech therapist when

he was 4 years old as " persistent to moderate to severe delayed

speech/phonological and articulation disorder " , we immediately placed

him in extensive treatment with 2-3 sessions per week for 2 years (or

until our insurance company would no longer pay for private

therapy). Due to his language deficiency, he was tested by the

school district before he entered kindergarten and labeled " mildly

cognitively impaired " and placed in special education services, where

he still resides now at the age of 11.

Over the years, he's continued in school-based speech therapy and a

short-term summer therapy program, where he has made moderate

improvements, but he still struggles greatly.

When he was 4 we had him tested for autism, mental retardation,

hearing and balance lost – using a battery of test including DNA,

chromosome analysis, BAER, MRI, EEG, all showed normal results and

recommended continued speech therapy; but as the years progress with

very minimal improvement I'm hoping there may be some other path of

diagnostic or treatment we could pursue.

We live in Michigan, but we are prepared to travel anywhere for

assistance for our son. I have looked over your website and was

hoping there could be a referral clinic where we could take our son

for evaluation. Please let me know if this is possible. Thank you

for your consideration and any assistance you may offer.

I. Dudley
