My daughter and I were both born in NY. Long Story Sorry. My family is hispanic and my husband and I decided it would be good to teach our daughter spanish, no english at that time. At 2 years old she only said a couple of words, one syllable. She was diagnosed as speech delayed and received therapy in spanish. I was told by some therapists that not to be surprised if she already new english. I started testing her and she understood me. Her therapist said she probably picked it up from me and others around her. The therapist continued therapy in spanish and I slowly taught her english. It was amazing how fast she started speaking english. We dumped the therapist and english was the official language with us. Unfortunately, I should off continued with therapy, but in english. Now my daughter is 4 and in pre-k. Her teacher recommends speech therapy. My daughter has a large vocabulary, but has trouble pronouncing a few letters, e.g. the letter S, X, Z, uses the T in front of words a lot. Now that I have been researching a way to help her I came across Apraxia. I strongly believe my daughter has apraxia. I feeling guilty for not getting her the help earlier. I am having a lot of trouble finding resources here in Canada. This is why I joined this group. I'm reading all the info on the database to inform myself more of this condition. Is there a book or website that can teach me how to work her. Thank you all of listening.
