Just wanted to spread some good news. Went to the metabolic neuro today

in Phila. When we discussed tone issues and I asked about carnitine

(while holding 's study which his resident rejected)he said that

he was checking for that along with the other itens he had in mind for

my kids because " Some dr. on the west coast seems to think there is a

correlation. We don't think much of it here but you never know. "

California is a long way from Philly and when it comes to this stuff it

is new and not everyone is on the same page but I was thrilled #1:

Because I wanted it ruled in or out and my son has some symptoms

consistent with deficiency as does my daughter but less so and #2:

Because the mom who went before me and brought the study...well he

obviously read it. Thanks ! Thanks !

This is great news! That's how change for the better happens very often with a

few brave ones blazing the trail. I sometimes loose faith in this process and

think we're doomed to inadequate health care practices due to resistance to

change and alternate interests --other than the patient's well being and good

health, but it's good to see other doctors are open to it. Yup, there's hope!

Way to go and !

And gosh, it's not like we want all this to be happening to our children, but

since they have a speech and or/other disorder, shouldn't we rule out every

possibility of other metabolic conditions contributing to it at least if not

being the main or exclusive cause? Shouldn't we optimize neurological

functioning to give them the best chance at speaking, learning doing everything

else their neurotypical peers are doing? Yes, such good news! Thank you for

sharing.
