Dates: 10/15 - Atlantic County 10/15 - Essex County 10/20 - Union County 1/13/10 - County 1/21/10 - Ocean County Basic Rights in Transition This workshop discusses issues relating to transitioning from school to adult life, identifying outcomes and developing goals as part of the IEP process. Parents and young adults will become knowledgeable regarding resources in the community in order to build linkages, and ensure a dignified life as a contributing citizen. Date: 10/13 - Ocean County Essential Components of the IEP This interactive workshop provides participants with a review of the essential components of an Individualized Education Plan. As a result of this workshop, participants will be able to read and understand an IEP document, be able to effectively participate in IEP meetings and know how to address IEP concerns/issues in a proactive and positive way. Date: 10/19 - Mercer County Health Advocacy - Accessing Health Coverage and Services For Children with Special Health Care Needs This workshop focuses on accessing health coverage and services for children with special health care needs. Topics covered include an introduction to the various health insurance models, who is eligible and how to apply; mental health services and the child behavioral health system; advocacy in the managed care environment; health support services; consumer laws-COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA; and adult systems of care.
