Guest guest
Hi! I'm new to the group. I appreciate being here. My name is . I am a mom of three. My youngest is suspected of being apraxic. This is just a hunch for now I guess as my daughter is only 19 months old. I'm an extreemly proactive parent and having some limited medical background from my previous life before kids, I know how crucial it is to jump on these things early. My dd used to be able to say da-da, bye-bye, puppy/dahdee, uh-oh, and ball at 14 months. Now at almost 19 mos. she's down to Ma-ma (for everything) and ball (bah). She is mouse quiet when she plays and has never baby babbled. Hearing test came back normal. She has no history of any ear infections or illness, never been on an antibiotic, nothing. She did however have an adverse reaction to her vaccines at 4 months. She siezed and quit breathing. Supposedly she has no residual effects. (I digress.) Anyway, she's getting ST one day a week for an hour. I love her SLP, beyond pleased. I also just started her on ProEFA. The SLP also mentioned getting therapy 2 day's a week, maybe some OT. I think she wants more time with her first. I am currently running the emotional/mental gamut. Maybe she's fine? She's just a little behind? I'm overwhelmed, I hope I'm doing everything I can for her. I am learning and teaching her sign language. I work with her everyday but can't seem to get her to mimic sounds. My husband thinks she's fine, just a late talker and that I'm nuts. I hope he's right, but I'm so hurt and angry that he is so against doing what is best for her. Did I say, I hope he's right? I don't have alot of family support so here I am. You poor unlucky ppl. If you got through all of this, thank you! I know there is nothing anyone can really do, but, if someone can relate, I'll take that. ~
