Guest guest
Today we had early steps intervention team, myself and Devin. The therapist said that he will be going to the local childrens hospital for a complete a intrusive speech evalulation specifically geared towards evaluating apraxia... I thought a speech eval. was all the same. She said that she could diagnose him with it but because he only say a couple words she is not comfortable in diagnosing him but they would be more qualified to do so... The way she made it sound was that he had to say alot more than what he was saying to be properly diagnosed. She also mentioned late talking which I am definatly hoping that is all it is. But she says that not to sit back and relax yet... That it does not hurt to treat it as apraxia. She also said that he could just simply be a lazy talker... So that just made the confusion even worse..... YEAH... Just what I needed....... Has that been experiances that yall have run into that they have said your child needs to say more before they can be diagnosed with anything? I am just thinking to myself that is why we are here. Because he is not talking..... HMMMMMM go figure..... Sorry just needed to vent a little bit sorry everyone....
