Guest guest
Krys, My son was the only of my 3 to develop thrush and he had many, many yeast infections in the diaper area as well. We also used the Nystatin to treat him. At the time we didn't use any supplements, so I can't help you there. We had to use the prescription cream for the butt rash, that was the only thing that took care of it. He also had some food sensitivities, but no " allergies " . I always brought up the rash he got on his face after eating certain foods, but nothing ever came of it (maybe I didn't push the dr hard enough?) We just stopped the foods and reintroduced them later. I never connected the yeast infection to his speech - is there a relation? Guest guest
Just went to see the DAN! doc yesterday and she wants DD to start on Diflucan for yeast to improve her speech, so it must be related. in OH > > Krys, > My son was the only of my 3 to develop thrush and he had many, many yeast infections in the diaper area as well. Guest guest
Hi Krys, I would advise you to join the ApraxiaDyspraxiaBiomedSupport support group.. they can share a lot more info about Yeast issues, etc. Thanks, Nikunj > > Hi,I'm new to the group, but have been reading post for a while. My 23m.daughter has pretty bad allergies which probably contributed to her late speech. We stared therapy with SLP , supplements Nordic naturals PRO-EFA and Vita E, as well as probiotics. How ever she develop candida ( thrash) in her mouth, and I suspects is in her intestine as well. The Dr. prescribe Nystatin ( oral) for 5 days. Here is my question - should I stop all her supplements for those 5 days, to sort of starve the yeast? > Has any one have any experience with this? Any comment will be welcome. > Regards > Krys, mom of 4,5 Sidney with CP and 23m.Mikayla ( possible verbal apraxia) >
Guest guest
Thanks Nikunj, I sing for the group right away. As for the yeast connection with speech? long story. When I read the famous article ( thank you all, excellent resource) every thing made sense to me. I've been researching this speech subject for a while now. Mikayla from the beginning was a colicy baby, but doc. of course wouldn't listen. I put her myself on Nutramigen ( highly hydrolyzed formula), which brought immediate results. How ever around 6m. we went back to regular. She seemed to be ok ( I was wrong). Her behavior escalated, diapers were always full to the top, she started hit her head on the floor, scratch till bleeding, pull hair. When she was 10 w. old she end up in emerge. room with sever reaction to something?! Now one seemed to care why. She supposedly was to young to test. When she was 13-14m. we tried to give her eggs and she broke in hives. All this time she was also extremely congested, starting to breath thru mouth, holding breath.Long story short this time I demented further testing. She is severely allergic to peanut, milk, eggs and wheat! In all this craze we didn't realize that she also stop growing ( drop 2 percentile line on chart) and of course her speech is delayed, but my doc. thinks that is still time. I took her privately to SPL and she suspects apraxia. This whole thing pushed me to look for more clues. Leaky gut syndrome, malabsorption, yeast, allergies, omega3 acids, autism and apraxia are all very closely correlated with each other. For the past3 months Mikayla is on wheat, milk, eggs and nut free diet. Her behavior improved 80%, congestion is gone, speech is improving. We closely monitor her protein and fat intake ( never enough) and waiting to see pediatrician which I don't have high hopes for. It is extremely hard to find a good doc.,whom actually is taking new patient. And since we live in Ontario, Canada, waiting times for every thing are extraordinary. Sorry, for a long post, I wanted to introduce myself sooner, but with every thing going on is just crazy All of you been a wonderful source of info for me, Thank so much Krys
Guest guest
Hi Bonnie >have you noticed any behavior difference in your son after taking Niststine? What was the dose and how long did he take it? Thanks Krys > Krys, > My son was the only of my 3 to develop thrush and he had many, many yeast infections in the diaper area as well.
