Guest guest
By pragmatic language disorder do you mean SPLD (semantic pragmatic language disorder)? My son has a PDD-NOS diagnosis from one doctor with clarification that it is SPLD (full autism from another and yet others have said he definitely isn't autistic!) But this diagnosis helped because it classified him as autistic which got him a parapro. I'm not thrilled using the autism (mis) diagnosis, but heck I'll use it if it gets him what he needs. Like your son he's the non-squeaky wheel and he does get overlooked due to his wonderful behavior. Having the parapro helped that a lot. Guest guest
Hi: First off, my son has same diagnoses as yours, probably w/ some variances. He also got on or near grade level academically and was mainstreamed completely this yr w/ the exception of an aid for writiing for 40 mins/day( has difficulty organizing thoughts). His classification changed to multiple disabled( r/t private eval diagnosis of mild ADHD, PDD-NOS, SID and resoving dyspraxia) I highly recommend supplementing his speech privately if you arent already and getting a private eval to retain services . We went to Hackensack Institute of Child Development. If it was left up to the school , we may have lost the additional support. Fortunately, my case worker listened to my concerns after multiple conversations and had to consider the private eval recommendations. My son is 9 now and is doing well in school so far. As he is challenged more academically , we may need to add more support ie. tutoring, but we are very happy w/ his progress. We live in Essex County, NJ . If you ever want to talk feel free to call. 973-680-4776 Kris On Nov 30, 2008, at 8:43 AM, stevenfmom wrote: > hi, > > I have a 4.5 year old son in NJ who is in the preschool disabled > class. > > He has Apraxia, Hypotonia, SID, expressive and pragmatic language > disorder. > > He is showing great improvement in Speech and his sensory issues.
