Please share this " second edition " with anyone who might benefit from any of our services. The " forward email " function at the very end of this newsletter makes it easy. Did you know that Holly is a member of IECA, the Independent Educational Consultants Association? She is fully qualified to help your family identify the learning environment that best meets the individual needs of your student. She offers unbiased help in evaluating the pros and cons of each school. Learning Associates has been providing individualized Learning Evaluations, consultations, and advocacy since 1981. We serve students aged 4 1/2 years through young adult. We also provide college admissions consulting along with personal essay classes and coaching. Please read on to find out more... Please see the Profesionals Page of our website for more information: Professionals Avoid the Educational Emergency Room The 2009-2010 Admissions Cycle is Here You can avoid a trip to the Educational Emergency Room this coming fall. We get the calls. An otherwise capable student is writing an unremarkable essay, or worse. The essay deadlines are overwhelming the entire family. These are some of the educational emergencies. The testimonials on our website speak to the success of our students once we intervene. Testimonials Learning Associates is establishing groups of 4-6 students for college essay coaching. One-to-one coaching is also available. Of course, we provide individualized College Counseling to guide students and families through the entire daunting process. Two classes are starting soon! One starts Tuesday, June 23rd and the other starts Tuesday, June 30th. The first session in each series begins with a presentation open to both parents and students. Just drop Larry or Holly a note and they will be happy to provide detailed information on the options available. Larry's email; Holly's email Deadlines Looming: Register by September 9th for the SAT and Subject Tests on October 10, 2009: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/reg.html Those seeking accommodations for the SAT must prepare and submit all documentation no later than August 15th. http://professionals.collegeboard.com/testing/ssd/application/dates Register by August 12th for the ACT Test on September 13, 2009: https://www.actstudent.org/regist/dates.html Those seeking accommodations for the ACT must do so by the registration deadline - but it shoud be sooner! Waiting until the deadline can result in a denial. Many college supplements for the class entering in the fall of 2010 wil be published on September 1, 2009. We presented our seminar entitled " 3,000 Colleges, One Student at a Time " . Larry Blumenstyk attended the Annual Conference of NJACAC on May 11th and 12th, 2009, featuring two days of informative seminars and meetings. There was a " packed house " in the Chapel at town Beard School for the Jersey United Soccer Club seminar on April 20th. Thanks to all who attended that cold and rainy evening and thanks to Jersey United. The 3rd Annual Admissions Symposium sponsored by NJACAC was held at Madison High School on April 16, 2009. Representatives of Colgate, Montclair, Moravian, Mt. Holyoke, the SUNY colleges, Rider, and & Wales were active participants. Holly won a door prize of a goody bag from Montclair U! Learning Associates attended a high school symposium with presentations by Admissions officers from Muhlenberg and son on March 31, 2009. Learning Associates provided a keynote address on the personal essay in college admissions at the Temple Har Shalom, Warren, NJ, College Fair on March 22, 2009: Personal Essay Seminar; " Get Personal, Shoot High, Get Noticed " . Upcoming Events Holly is excited to be teaching the Supervised Practicum and Seminar in Inclusive Early Childhood Education at Montclair State University this summer. " This will be an opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with young teachers who are just starting out in the field, " she said. Fall seminars are being scheduled.
