Guest guest
Hi, Background: Son is 3 years old dx with ASD and speech Apraxia. He is mostly non-verbal with only about 3 understandable words. He is receiving 3 hours of speech a week. 1 hour OT. I have been a member for a little but only for research. As of today my son was dx with Speech Apraxia. We knew something was wrong because he would go to form the word but nothing would come out. He also has eating problems. He does not know how to chew. He would bite the cookie but it would fall out of his mouth because he has no idea what to do with it. Now that we know what's wrong we are researching as to how we can help. I am now doing research on all the archives. He is doing the listening therapy. At the beginning he could say about 95% of his alphabet but now only a few letters. Does anyone know if the listening therapy could have caused this? We don't know exactly when he stopped saying the ABC's because we really were not focused on that. He has been doing the therapy for about 5 months now but we noticed the ABC's stopped 2 months ago. We checked our logs but could not find anything. Does anyone know of bad results if we stop the listening therapy all together? I just want to make sure the listening therapy is hurting instead of helping. Would love to hear results from other parents good and bad. Also any good books I can read about Apraxia? Thanks, Ketzie www.ineedhelpwithautism.com
