Guest guest
Hello, It has been a long time since I posted. is 15. He was evaluated for speech & langauge and pragmatic skills sept of 2007 by a private provider. I don't think the school speech therapist knows much about pragmatics which is why the school paid for the private evaluation. has access to a para professional during all his core classes, but he is having problems getting her to help him when he asks. He switched schools in August and got a new para professional this school year. So in August he got all new teachers and a new para professional, but he didn't get training in how to ask for help. The teacher who manages his IEP says he got too much help last year. They accuse him of asking for the answers, instead of trying to find out the answers himself. He reads below the 3rd grade level and not fluently yet. My question is: is it too soon to request a re evaluation of 's pragmatic skills? Last years test says that doesn't explain and describe situations well enough. I believe it is why he is getting so frustrated with his teachers and para professional who refuse to help him when he feels he needs help. Thanks, Lorraine
