Just wanted to share a happy post with everyone. This is my DS's second

year at HeadStart. He turned 4 this July. Last year he played with kids

during preschool but didn't really have any true friends. He has

recently been invited to a little boy's 5th b-day party as well as

another boy's house to play. When I spoke to his teacher at our home

visit she told me that him and 3 other little boys in the class are

inseparatable.

Last year it made me sad to see him not invited to play dates or

parties. He didn't care though. This year, now that he is more social

and intiating play more often (an IEP goal) he has finally developed

his own social group. I couldn't be more thrilled for him.

Seeing his excitement over the invitation and the joy of goofing off

with these three other boys makes those private SLP bills and all those

nights that I cried worrying about his future worth it.

Hope everyone else is having some sucess this school year as well.

Celebrate the small ones as well as the bigger ones. After all it takes

a lot of small sucesses to achieve the final goal.
