Guest guest
Many children, up to 85 % of children with ADHD have low ferritin levels. It was first documented in France and then in The Journal of Pediatrics 2004. They think that alot of children with learning disabilities have low ferritin levels, without anemia. By correcting the ferritin levels can improve sleep patterns , hyperactivitiy, impulsitivity and focus. You give an iron supplement to increase it's level....It is not uncommon for children with dyspraxia (gross motor, fine motor and speech involvement) to have ADHD and dyslexia. Guest guest
I would rule out celiac or celiac variant first. My daughter was anemic but could not tolerate the iron in the supplement. Turns out she was retaining copper due to her celiac. Adding iron without finding the cause was like throwing trash into a can that was already full. Worse than that as the can in this case was an impaired liver. Also, some kids have trouble further with iron in supplemental form and can only process via food. She is one of them. > > From: Creager <lisad529@...> > Subject: [ ] does anyone know what low feritan levels mean? > > Date: Sunday, November 30, 2008, 5:03 PM > > > > > > > apparently feritan is " iron storage " in the body. my son has good > iron levels (not anemic) but has low iron storage. does anyone know > what that means or how to correct it? how does it relate to apraxia?? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
