Guest guest
I, too, love this idea and I would be willing to organize it, if people were interested in it. I'd love to have it in Oklahoma as well (I live in CA and I could see my much beloved ex-foster child who went to live with Aunt and Uncle in Glenpool, OK (right by Tulsa) - so I could " kill two birds with one stone. " If you are truly interested in this, email me at loveisfosteringhere@... and put " convention get together " in the subject line (or I might miss it, as I get the daily emails and I don't read them all.) Let me know the following information: 1. If you would seriously consider making it, if the date/time worked for you. 2. Where you currently live. 3. How far you would be willing to travel. 4. What time of year would be best for you (spring break, or summer break?) 5. How many would most likely attend. 6. Would you like me to try to get group discount lodging or would you like to make your own private accomodations? 7. How many rooms would you need if we did a group discount (also how many people and are they adults or children?) Even if I don't even end up organizing it for some reason, I could at least put together the info. Thanks and have a wonderful day! Blessings to You, ********************************************************************************\ *********************************************************************** Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth give I unto you. I think that in all fairness, this convention should be in the mid-west, easily accessible to people from the east AND west coast. Let's say.... I got it! How about Oklahoma! And since Oklahoma has two big cities to fly into, why don't we put the convention smack dab between Tulsa and Oklahoma City! Shoot! How about smack dab in the middle of the state...Um, it looks like that would be " Stroud " ? And while everyone is here they can come visit me!!! Oh, and if we make it for Spring Break (say about mid-March), everyone who shows up can walk away with a beautiful 6-8 week old black-lab puppy! But in all seriousness, I REALLY want this to happen, and somewhere near. (Another state is fine) because I want so much to meet all of you and to envy 's never-been-bigger- than-size- 4 figure! But mostly for Shyann to see and hear and meet children just like her. Can you imagine a room full of apraxic children? For even just a weekend they might feel more normal than ever before. And yes, I know I'm being mean spirited here, but for once I'd like to see 20 apraxic kids struggling to be understood and have one non-apraxic child walk in and have our apraxic children look at them and say " What's wrong with the way you talk? " o.k., that WAS unnecessary, but I know some of you might feel the same...... Has there ever been a convention for us to all meet with our children. If not I was wondering would anyone one be interested in making this happen! we could all meet somewhere for a long wknd. have some activites for our kids together and have some speakers maybe would be interested in speaking and maybe (you have alot to share about biomed) I am just thinking out loud and its easier to really absorb and take peoples advice when they are in front of you and you can see yes there child is like mine. Or even those that children can have eachother to relate to even if only for a wknd.
