But I can say that whatever the school chooses to use as a guideline regardless of the state that they are in, does not matter. It is federal law and IDEA that rules. Having said that, what formal speech evaluations has your child had or been tested on in this area by the school district under child find? What private evaluations have you had done? Can anyone tell me if that guideline is only used in Illinois state board of education or if it is used nationally?? I am in NH and believe that my child is in the profound column as his most recent evaluations showed the highest score as a 2% level and his lowest was a .1%...yes,?? .1% not 1%.? I would like to use that to help get more speech therapy or some kind of adjustment to his iep...but, I'd like to get my facts straight first. Thanks! I just thought I would let you know that someone else is also dealing with the the special ed system in your state.
