Guest guest
My son seems to get reflux when I put him on EFA and/or Cod Liver Oil. Is this a sign that he can't tolerate it? I really need to get him on one of the two or both because I heard it does wonders for apraxia. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? My kiddo is six and high functioning. We are still working on getting better eye contact, increasing flexibility when playing with peers and speech intelligibility (he is 85% intelligible). Peace, Dayna
Guest guest
Reflux can be an allergic response to the E used (soy) the fish oil itself depending on grade/source, and/or the citrus used. I have trouble with Nordic Naturals...likely the soy and lemon. I now use for the CLO Pharmax but use the NN still for regular fish oil. > > My son seems to get reflux when I put him on EFA and/or Cod Liver Oil. Is this a sign that he > can't tolerate it? Guest guest
Hi Dayna Enzymedica makes a product called EFA Optimize. EFA Optimize was formulated to assist with the assimilation of Essential Fatty Acids while reducing the common symptoms of poor EFA digestion. One capsule of EFA Optimize taken with your essential fatty acid supplement will help ensure that your EFA's are doing their job.* Fats are labeled as essential or non-essential. Essential fats (EFA's) must be consumed through fiet or supplements because the body cannot synthesize them. Popular supplements that provide EFA's come in the form of oils such as fish oils, flax oil, borage oil, krill, coconut and evening primrose oil. Many of us know the importance of Essential Fatty Acids in our diet; they provide energy to the body, maintain body temperature, insulate the nerves, enhance the immune system and protect body tissues. In order to accomplish these fundamental tasks, essential fatty acids must be absorbed and utilized by the body. That was some information I took off the website. But please feel free to ask me any questions of if you would like to try some samples, just let me know! Guest guest
You will receive a lot of suggestions on this group. For my son, I couldn't use any oil, cold liver oil, fish oil, etc. About three weeks ago I have been able to use a product called EFA from kirkman, is from flax, is powder, and he is doing well with that. I mix it in his vegetable puree, or with his food, 1/2 teaspoon with lunch and 1/2 teaspon with dinner, also mix with enzymes. > > My son seems to get reflux when I put him on EFA and/or Cod Liver Oil. Guest guest
L-Carnitine can really help with side effects to fish oils because it helps with fatty acid metabolism problems.
