Hi everyone!

Some of you know who Kathy from Jersey is. Some of you know her as

the teacher that sends messages with all the questions marks in them

(she's brought her computer in to find out why and nobody can figure

out what's going on with that yet) Some of you know Kathy is not

just a kindergarten teacher but a much loved teacher voted " teacher

of the year " from Tom's River NJ who pops in here to help others in

her free time. And some of you that know her wonder how she has free

time...after all she is mother of 4 boys -2 of them being apraxic

twins...and as if that alone wasn't a handful -Kathy lost her husband

in a tragic car accident a few years ago when her twins were just 3

years old. When times are tough for any of us with one child -Kathy

is on the apraxia journey X 2 with twins + 2 as a single mom!!

But most of the time Kathy does it all with a smile and a laugh. She

has a great sense of humor -and she credits " fish pills " to keeping

her from falling apart. But no matter how resilient and upbeat Kathy

is- life just through her another hard ball.

Kathy just found out that her 10 year old son Logan has a 75% hearing

loss in one ear and needs a hearing aid. Here it is just weeks away

from the holidays with 4 boys she needs to buy presents for - and now

she needs to come up with 2,500 dollars for a hearing aid. Kathy

just doesn't know where she's going to come up with this money as

it's not covered. (And now you know why the name of the website

is " Shop To Be Heard " ) Perhaps someone here has suggestions? I just

found out and this is one thing I thought of.

Where I live in Florida most of the schools, churches and nonprofits

these tough times because a percentage of money (from 1 to 40%) is

paid back on products and services you need or want to buy anyway.

It's innovative as well because there are close to 100 " green "

manufacturers that this website features in addition to the closer to

will all help Kathy. I just helped one of the country's leading

hospital systems start up with this website as well.

But here I'd like to ask if we as a group can support one of our

own. As we are all aware that this is probably one of the biggest

following is her story in short -it's tragic but every word of it is

true. Any help to raise even part of the money for the hearing aid

will again be greatly appreciated. As Kathy said " after all my son

has been through with years of therapy learning to talk for him to

For those of you that don't know Kathy -she isn't expecting or asking

My identical twins were diagnosed with apraxia at 2 and a half and at

the time they were completely nonverbal. After about a year of

speech therapy with very little progress I found the CHERAB website

and discovered the fish pills. 8 days later my twins started to talk

and we were beyond thrilled! Not soon after my husband was

tragically killed in a car accident leaving me without a husband and

my 4 sons without a daddy. My twin's story is in The Late Talker

book. For awhile things seemed to get better, but my apraxic son

Logan seemed to be struggling a bit more than his twin. Logan was

taken for a hearing test and I found out that he is permanently

hearing impaired in one ear. This is something that was missed by

previous testing. Logan has been such a trooper with all life has

thrown at him, all my boys have been, but in addition to the

impairment we have a financial burden. I have to buy Logan a

hearing aid which costs $2,500. I know times are tough for all which

is why suggested this fund raiser for my son to help me as a

single parent buy the hearing aid as I know she is working with

various schools and foundations using this program for fundraising.
