Guest guest
My daughter tried Threelac and it didn't seem to do anything, but I do think it helped my yeast issues which were very mild. I also tried to do a bunch of research on it and bottom line was that I found a few people that said it helped but by no means the majority. However until we have a better clue as to why certain ones work/help certain people everything's a bit of a gamble. Thanks, Kari Re: Threelac Hi! Guest guest
I have heard bits and pieces ofthis probiotic. Where can it be purchased? MISSY SAHM to some special kids!!! I am who I am because that's who I am --, 5 All kids are gifted; some just open their packages earlier than others. -- Carr Threelac Can this probiotic be taken in food or yogurt? On the package it says to put it in your mouth and then drink water. It would be easier for me if I could put it in my son's yogurt but I don't want it to lose effectiveness. Also, does anyone know how many cells are in each little packet? Finally, if Threelac is effective against yeast can it cause a bacteria overgrowth or is it effective against bacteria as well? Hope
Guest guest
Missy, I visited www.candidafree.net where you can find info on candida, Threelac and how to order. Good luck. Guest guest
--We have been using Threelac for 2-months now, and the results have been great. My daughter's stools firmed up, and she is talking more and clearer. Also, sleep issues have resolved. If you try it, work up slowly on dose. It is pretty powerful stuff. The only down side has been that recently she is getting constipated since we reached full dose. I am currently working on a solution that problem.--Tod > > Hi everyone thanks for the reassurance with NO phenol I am getting > so tired of the one sided articles just like the article where > Augmentin causes autism!! please!! Guest guest
Hiya! We did it for about two or three months when coming off nystatin. I think it did help and he liked to take it, which is often a deciding factor. I wouldn't say it wiped it out, but then again we don't go on a candida diet either. He did stop incessantly chewing on his shirts sleeves and we saw some other behavioral improvements. We have since switched to a dairy free chewable that we found at our HFS for maintenance...it's a little cheaper. hope this helps. -deb > > Hi everyone thanks for the reassurance with NO phenol I am getting > so tired of the one sided articles just like the article where > Augmentin causes autism!! please!! Hi Jenn We tried Threelac for about two months. It did not help atall. I would go as far as to say there was absolutely no effect. It is pricey too. We also have MASSIVE yeast issues and the only thing in the world that works for us is grapefruit seed extract. It is cheap as chips to buy, you only use 2 or 3 drops twice a day for about 4 days at a time, and then for the next week, load her up with high dose probiotics. You will probably need to repeat the treatment regularly, followed by the probiotics. If you have never used it before, it will kill yeast immediately, and if she is badly infected she is likely to have a die off reaction that will make her feel ill. The die off will make all her yeast symptoms much worse for the 3 or 4 days that you are treating her. After this you will see a much calmer child who is able to sit for much longer. Guest guest
For hyperactivity in addition to yeast treatment, magnesium really works well for my son. Given the ASD children's Mag deficency, Dr. MacCandels recommend about 400mg of it. Sorry, I have not used Treelac but am interested to try. Did it decrease stims or was she able to use spontaneous language after but, not before? Thanks so very much. Jenn L My daughter had Selective Mutism, an anxiety disorder. The following description of selective mutism taken from selectivemutism.org fit my dd to a T. What are the most common personality traits of Selectively Mute children? The following are various personality characteristics of Selectively Mute children that I have encountered among hundreds of SM children: --MUTISM --Blank Facial expressions (when anxious) --Lack of smiling (when anxious) --Staring into space (when anxious) ----- --Difficulty with eye contact (when anxious) --Frozen appearance (when anxious) ---- --Awkward and stiff body language (when anxious) --Difficulty `initiating' play. Saying or indicating thank-you, hello, or goodbye is incredibly difficult for these children. --Slowness to respond (i.e. when asked a question, will take longer than the average child to respond either nonverbally or verbally. This is one reason why standardized testing is often difficult and yields inaccurate results.) - --Heightened sensitivity to surroundings/noise/crowds/touch --Excessive tendency to worry and have fears (often manifested in children older than 6 years of age) --Behavioral manifestations at home, such as: moodiness, assertiveness, inflexibility, procrastination, crying easily, need for control, bossiness, domination, extreme talkativeness and expressiveness. --Intelligent, perceptive and inquisitive ------- --Introspective and sensitive (seems to understand the world around them more thoroughly than other children the same age, and portrays an increased sensitivity to feelings and thoughts, although often have difficulty `expressing' feelings) ---- --Manifests artistic interests After introducing Lactobacillus Sporogenes she became happy again. We no longer saw the hour long tantrums with her crying herself to sleep over often unknown causes or seemingly minor things (such as her droping a bite of food in her lap at lunch). She stopped hiding behind me when we'd visit my parents. She used to scream at them when they said hello to her. She started interacting normally with them. Her noise sensitivity improved greatly along with improvement in other sensory areas. There were far fewer incindents of freezing and muteness at school. I'm not saying it was a cure. She still has some anxiety but it really was dramtic for her. Before we used the lacto. sporo. we'd been using acidophilus pearls and various other probiotics, GSE, & olive leaf extract. When we got the lacto. sporo we dropped the GSE (as I didn't see it working at all) but kept giving her the olive leaf extract and other probiotic (usually Reuteri) untill I felt the yeast was under control. Then I just gave her a matience dose of probiotics and the lacto. sporo. HTH,
Guest guest
hi we have just started using threelac, about mth now, and although i havent seen a huge improvement in his symptoms yest - i have noticed that now if he doesnt receive his breakfast dose his behaviour gets steadily worse until he does receive it??? his giggling is definately less - i did try to up it to 2 pkts a day and it produced a greater die off reaction lots of stimming and laughter so we cut back to 1 as advised by mark from candidafree.net - who incidentally ran a study on 19 asd children and the effects of threelac on them, for a few it was a huge success!! we will be upping the dose again in a few weeks bit it does show it does actually work - its just much slower to evidence i hth kindest regards emma > > Has anyone here tried the Threelac for their autistic child for yeast issues? Guest guest
I absolutely LOVE Threelac. I have not ever used anything else for yeast, so I can't compare. The only things I have ever done for him were take him off milk, start proefa, give threelac and enzymes. My son (19 months), began to point, answer to his name, receptive language grew (does object identification)and recently began usuing the potty (I thought there would be a delay since his language). He still is not talking and the more I get into this process, I think his specific problem is not social in nature (he is actually quite social), it is the motor planning, or apraxia that limits his ability to speak. That is why I started proefa, but recently I read that some kids cannot digest fats well. The Houston combo does not include a enzyme high in Lipase, so I added one three days ago and BOOM, the chicken bumps on the back of his arms are WAY down, almost completely cleared! So I think he indeed was not digesting fats properly. Others on the board have mentioned a Mito cocktail to help with this, but I am going to simply continue with a high lipase enzyme and cut back his proefa and see what other areas he improves in. But yeast and fat digestion seem to be the big issues with his delays. Good luck and I would definitely get some threelac. My whole family is taking it with many awesome results!. > > Has anyone here tried the Threelac for their autistic child for yeast issues? Guest guest
For us, SCD did not help with yeast. I know it is supposed to, but it just made us hyper (from yeast, such high phenols, and no copmlex carbs). All the honey and nuts fed yeast, and my son is intolerant of dairy so no yogurt. Threelac makes my son very hyper; maybe from the lemon? He tends to get bacterial from probiotics even though he's extremely yeast-prone. Grapefruit seed extract, Nystatin, oil of oregano, and garlic have all been useful for us. Going off sugar, dairy, and a low yeast diet that doesn't include simple starches like rice and potatoes very often has helped him a lot. No Fenol is amazing on yeast, either alone or taken with food like an enzyme. It can cause hyperactivity at first though, or at night. Zinc and magnesium are helping a lot here too. Good luck; life with yeast can be very challenging. It is worth trying whatever you think might help, til you find something that does. Guest guest
When my son has bacterial overgrowth he initially gets a little too aggressive. Like if he wants me to leave the room instead of just saying " goodbye, " he also shoves me. His words come out more forceful, and accidents start happening like he wants a kiss on the head but accidentally bangs his head so hard into my mouth it bleeds. Then if I don't give him a teaspoon of antibiotic he goes to stage 2, which is hoarding water bottles along the side of his computer desk, refusing to sit down for meals, and only standing in front of his computer to eat. Stage 3 shortly follows, which is where anything that bothers his line of sight or isn't in it's orderly place - water bottles, an empty plate, a sock - gets flung behind the computer desk in his room. So for instance a couple weeks ago I tried ThreeLac once again on us all (I paid so much for it, I want it to work) and the next day all our water bottles were missing from the frig. So I asked my daughter, " Go see if Noah has bacteria, " and she went in his room and reported that yes, there was a collection of water bottles that had been flung behind the desk. (Normally my son is quite neat and returns his dishes, and everyone else's, to the sink and the water to the frig, etc. - so that is only a bacteria behavior.) It's almost like he gets like more of a teenage boy - aggressive, clumsy, throwing beer cans behind his desk instead of the garbage.....that's what it reminds me of. Over winter break I tried one dose each of ThreeLac, Houston chewable probiotic, and SupremaDophilous to fight yeast - all 3 had this effect. Usually within a couple hours of antibiotic he returns to his normal neat less aggressive self. I am able to catch it early enough now that I rarely if ever have to give him more than one dose of antibiotic. Amy > > Hi Amy, what do you mean by getting bacterial how could you tell? Guest guest
I think it's great, and it's something our orally sensitive non- capsule-swallowing 14yo took willingly. Guest guest
Since posting about my 3yr old son's scalp condition, one suggestion was yeast. I was looking at threelac for the whole family, since if it is yeast, then it may be my doing from when I overused them in my late 20s/ early 30s. Has anyone used it before? Is is safe to use on our own without doctor guidance? Is there anything I need to know about using it? Thanks!
