Guest guest
My son is 4 1/2 has global developmental delays and has been on the common mix of Omega 3-6-9, EPA and Vit E for about two years with great results. He is somewhat verbal, with maybe 100 words/word approximations. Over the past several months he has been stuttering significantly when trying to get out some of the few phrases he knows (ex. " hi, how are you " ). A couple weeks ago I stopped his fish oils for a few days due to a stomach bug. I left him off the oils for about 10 days and his stuttering was almost non-existant. This weekend I started the oils again and after just two days he was stuttering again significantly. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Guest guest
Stuttering is either a stage apraxic children go through or it's a sign of regression that you are using the wrong formula or dosage or both. While we need to adjust formulas -I've never heard of fish oils causing stuttering. For my son the stuttering on Speak was his first sign of regression. Unlike with fish oils however for my son Tanner the regression on the fat soluble vitamin didn't just go away. My advice is don't mess around with fat soluble vitamins and look at every possible reason for the stutter which means don't assume it's the fish oils. What dosage and type of vitamin E and why not try stopping them? Vitamin E is a newer aspect we explored as a group but in the end we learned that it appears it's not benign as fish oils have been. =====
