Guest guest
Take it, please take it!! There are many parents who come here asking how to fight for what you've been given because thier child has been denied and want help! I've BTDT too. I have an 11 yr old very typical son. He went to the private typcial prek in town. My daughter was born while he was there-he was 4yrs old. They have a book set up for newborns--so that three years later when they are ready for the program, there is a spot ready! Thats how popular and how much people in this town love the prek program there! I love all the people there, they were wonderful with my son. When my daughter was born, we were not aware of the issues that she'd have. She started EI at 3mos old and has still not been discharged from the system. We finished EI with OT PT SP and special ed. The hardest day of my life was to go back to that prek that I love and tell them, NO, she will not be attending prek here. they were not prepared for her and I had no intention of driving her to all her therapies after a day in a typical prek. We also had no problems qualifying for the special needs prek where she had five full days, with busing at no cost to me! She started at the special needs prek two weeks before she turned three!! It was the best thing for me, but especially for her! She had it all in one place with people who were well equipped to get her thru those two years and three summers of ESY. Thats another consideration!! Is the special prek in session for the summer?? I never had to worry about where to send her for the summer. The special prek stopped in late June and started right back up just after the 4th of July! no worries there and no break in therapies--she attended there three summers, which included the one just before she entered K--which most kids dont get. She turns 9 this summer! My five year old went to that typical prek and I also signed him up in " the book " as soon as he was born to ensure him a spot! Maureen > > Okay...I really need some help deciding here. My son is almost 3 and he does qualify for special education preschool through the school district.
