Guest guest
Thanks ! Jack was off of the NV for a week and 1 day from the previous post. I was planning on trying to keep him off of it for 2 weeks before we went to the Pediatric Neurologist so that we would get an accurate diagnosis, but the month before we were able to get in to see the Developmental Pediatrician when they had a cancellation (where we were given the CAS diagnosis,) so I cancelled the Neurology Appointment. Sorry if that was confusing. It is hard to believe we have come so far in such a short amount of time! I do have hopes that Jack will be in the " normal " range by the time he is in Kindergarten at least! I never would have thought it would happen back when he was 18 months old and they told me Jack was in the 6-9 month range for expressive language. I do worry that if he does not continue to get the 1:1 therapy once he starts school that he will regress, but as you know...we have to take it day by day and be thankful for all of the small surges (as well as the big ones!) Jack had therapy yesterday morning. (I go to work late every Thursday so that I can attend his therapy session and get the homework for the week.) His therapist could not stop commenting on how calm he was for the whole session. I agreed. Even now I see subtle changes almost everyday. I would be interested to see if there are any (or more severe regressions) if I took him off of it again, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I would not want to mess up any of the progress he has made. I would post video of Jack, but he does not like his picture taken or to have video taken of him. (He gets it from his older brother! Or maybe I took to many thousands of pictures of him when he was a baby!) I will see what I can do! Oh, did I mention I put my 4 year old neurotypical son on it a couple of weeks ago too! He is a very picky eater (especially with meat,) so although I am not using it as a meal replacement, I am happy to have something to supplement his diet with! I just wanted to thank you again. This group and this product have changed our lives! As you notice more will congratulate " my child said mommy for the first time " rather than the type of updates I post now -or yours- which are MIND BLOWING OMG INCREDIBLE! Of course when it comes to Tanner it's clear it was not a developmental surge as he is 13 years old and had those horrible regressions that lasted for 7 months after less than 2 weeks on that product called SPEAK and I guess in some small way I have to be thankful for that product I now consider poison because I believe it messed up Tanner metabolic system which affected his weight or why else would I have put Tanner onto a full dosage of nutriiveda anyway??!! I never would -and none of us would have ever known what we know now. That it works the way the body needs it. Now for your Jack- I can't even imagine that any of the advocacy will be much needed a few years from now -he's quickly approaching falling into the norm- and that's a good thing. We now know that some of the strategies we are using to help overcome apraxia appear to be helping our children soar above and beyond the rest of the " normal " classmates. Again I believe it to be the addition of the essential nutrients that are probably in good part lacking or missing in today's diets -especially in children. So from one mother that is thrilled to death to be on the other side or close to the shore to another- CONGRATULATIONS KATIE AND JACK!!!! And to those that are thinking which I know this is the thought " oh this is just a coincidence " Here is a message from when pulled Jack off for less than a week as you never made it the full week before putting him back on nutriiveda right? ~~~~~~~~~ > > Hello , > > I apologize for not posting sooner, but our family took a short vacation this week so I didn't want to spend much time on the computer. We just got home this afternoon. Anyway, Jack has been off of NV ( and his NN fish oils) for 1 week and 1 day now. (His last NV shake was Thursday night 02/18/2010.) I guess I have some good and some bad news to report (depending on how you look at it. ) > > The first two days he was off of the NV, I didn't notice any differences. On the third day, I began to see the following changes. The good news (and suprising news) is that we have not seen any regression in the words that Jack has recently picked up! The " bad " news is that I have noticed a significant regression in his focus and attention span. (This was also noted by his SLP during his last therapy session - Monday.) I think he is babbling less and doesn't seem to be picking up any new words as well. The other negative thing I have noticed over the past few days is Jack has been hitting more frequently. He used to hit (me, my husband, his brother or anyone around him) almost as a reflex. (I don't think this correlated with his speech in anyway because he didn't seem to do it in relation to speech frustration. ) You could tell by his face that he didn't mean to do it immediately after it > happened. It seemed as though he > > didn't have control over it. It stopped a little while ago, but I think it was before we started the NV. Either way, the hitting has started again. This is something I will be interested to keep an eye on when we start back on the NV Monday evening. I can't wait to put him back on it. > > , I feel like you may be right in your thoughts that NV may be repairing the problem areas in the brain. This would explain Jack's ability to keep the new words he has learned, but stop any new progression now that he is off of it. You may have been seeing verbal regression in the older kids because there may be more long term damage there. Perhaps because Jack is only 25 months there is less damage to repair and therefore less regression?? ? Just a thought. I will keep you posted if we see any other changes now that we are back home and back to our usual schedule. > > Feel free to give me a call again if you want to discuss this further! > > Thanks! > > IL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm thinking of adding both your newest update -and the one above to show the areas of regression to our testimony page http://pursuitofresearch.org/testimonials.html What do you think?!! =====
