Guest guest
Hi ,  I wanted to ask you a question about Fish oil ---- Do you mean to say the have a higher EPA than DHA is better?? I thought that DHA is for brain development and where as EPA is usually for vision, skin and hard nails. My developmental Doctor suggested to have higher DHA vs. EPA. She says 2:1 ratio in DHA vs. EPA. What do you think?  From: kiddietalk <kiddietalk@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Fish oil's 101 Date: Wednesday, May 5, 2010, 10:08 PM No problem putting it in milk but you want to make sure the cup is either glass or disposable and not reusable plastic as the oil will bind to it. Think of Tupperware and spaghetti sauce and how the plastic turns orange -the oil binds to the plastic. About the oil you are using however it's too high in DHA and not EPA with no GLA -not the best formula. http://www.carlsonl abs.com/p- 226-carlson- for-kids- chewable- dha.aspx You would be much better off with something like Coromega if you did want a pure Omega 3 for some reason because at least that has higher EPA to DHA. And besides...there is no such thing as a dosage that is for kids. Fish oil is fish oil- when our grandparents were little they used to get a tablespoon of cod liver oil daily -that's probably like a zillion regular sized capsules (I am not good at math so just saying zillion!) Guest guest
thanks, this is helpful. just want to note that I stopped giving it to him because he was throwing it up. I didn't keep torturing him! ;-) Jan If a medicine dropper doesn't bother them fine -but if it does find other methods to sneak it in. (and that's to the parent that just posted the child vomits each time after giving him fish oil in a medicine dropper -poor little thing!!) Guest guest
Try some white grape juice....white grape juice (or wine for adults) cleans the palate, so it will get rid of the taste ASAP. You could also mix it with the juice, and it should mask it as well. Or just have 2 syringes, 1 with fish oil, one with grape juice, and squirt together. From: kiddietalk@... Guest guest
Hi ,  I just wanted to confirm again for the correct " receipt " for our group fish oil intake. I have been giving to my daughter who is 3 years old -- 2 ProEFA and 1 ProEPA for more than six months now and I do see a surge on her speech. But recently I went to the web page www.speech411.com to order ProEPA and read the suggested intake is 2 capsules and 1 capsule for ProEFA daily!!! Did I miss understood the ratio 2:1 for 2 ProEFA : 1 ProEPA is incorrect?? The ratio actually is 2 ProEPA : 1 ProEFA?? Did I give the wrong dosage for my kid all these time!! Please help!!  Thank you,  From: kiddietalk <kiddietalk@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Fish oil's 101 Date: Wednesday, May 5, 2010, 10:08 PM  No problem putting it in milk but you want to make sure the cup is either glass or disposable and not reusable plastic as the oil will bind to it. Guest guest
I emailed you privately, hoping you can help this TOTALLY confused mom that is new to all of this. From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of kiddietalk Sent: Friday, May 14, 2010 10:40 AM Subject: [ ] Re: Fish oil's 101 thank you SO MUCH about the head's up at http://www.speech411.com There is the Nordic basic information up there mixed with some info from Cherab. I will make sure that is corrected when I get home from my trip this week. You are correct the recipe ratio I found to be best which the group over the past decade has confirmed is 2 ProEFA to 1 ProEPA. Any other questions let me know -I won't have lots of time to be online but more than when I was in Chicago with Bill Farley. Bottom line question....was the " recipe " of 2 ProEFA/1 ProEPA you were using working? =====
Guest guest
Hello ,  Great to know that I did not make a mistake and yes I think the fish oil definitely helps. I also wanted to know when it the best time to increase the fish oil dosage! My baby is 3 years old and weights 30 lbs. Do you think it's OK for me to increase to 4 ProEFA vs. 2 ProEPA capsules soon?? I would like to see if she can surge more with the increased dosage. When did you decided to increase Tanner's oil intake? What age? What weight? Any guide lines to follow??  Have a great weekend,  From: kiddietalk <kiddietalk@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Fish oil's 101 Date: Friday, May 14, 2010, 11:39 AM  thank you SO MUCH about the head's up at http://www.speech411.com There is the Nordic basic information up there mixed with some info from Cherab.
