Guest guest
Hello all, I need advise on the following with my almost 7yr old boy. 1- Stomach scratching - This was undercontrol a few months back and now it has started all over again, i can control it at home when i see it happenning , but at school looks like it happens more. He starts to cry for some unknown reasons and starts this behavior 2- Screaming/Crying at every stop signal when riding in the car - This is something new he has started , was never a issue before. He starts to pull himself out of the car seat, and stands up , especially when Dad is driving him alone to therapies. 3-He just starts to re-arrange everything from toys on the floor - mainly it should be in its place where it needs to be. It becomes like a OCD behavior. thanks, RP
Guest guest
Thank you for your input. I will need to figure that out. ---- ammattson <ammattson@...> wrote: > There has been some connection between bacterial issues being addressed and sound sensitivity being reduced. > > Before figuring out which anti-bacterial agent or probiotic works best, it would need to be determined which bacteria was at play. > > > Help needed > > > > Hello all, > I have been reading posts for some time now. I am in awe of all that this group does for their children. My son has SPD. He was tested for Autism and the results came back less than a 2% chance of him on the spectrum. I see strong connections with SPD and autism. I have been trying my best to figure out a diet for my son. We eliminated artificial preservatives, colorings, and high fructose corn syrup. He seems to be sensitive to salicylates. We still allow gluten and dairy. I am trying to figure out a vitamin supplement plan for him. I have him on a multi. I was using additional magnesium, zinc and vitamin D supplements as well. The ingredients in the additional supplements concern me. I was wondering if someone could recommend a brand or brands for zinc and magnesium. He can swallow pills fine so I don't need flavored versions. I have read so much and feel overwhelmed. I haven't found much through my SPD sites regarding using supplements to reduce symptoms. My son is extremely sensitive to noise. It is one of the most impairing aspects of his disorder. I have seen notes through this group about reducing sensitivity with the aid of supplements. We are financially not able to pursue a DAN doctor. Our pediatrician is good for basic illness, but not this. Any guidance that could be provided is very appreciated. Right now I feel like a failure as a mom because I keep searching and I just can't find the answers to help him. Thank you for listening. > Sonya > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Sonya-- My son was very sound sensitive too. We did AIT (auditory integration therapy) and it did help quite a bit. Many people do it through an OT, but I thought it was too pricey, so we did it " The Listening Program " on our own. It's not cheap...about $400 for the program and another $125 for good headphones. However, what helped the most with my son's sound sensitivity was controlling yeast. Have you read much on that? Google candida or yeast and tons will pop up. It's a bugger to get under control, but can be done. We went Gluten/Casein free for about nine months and it was worth it to heal my son's gut. We are now on enzymes and it works out great. We use Houston AFP Peptizyde. If you call Houston (houston-enzymes.com) ask for their education specialist, , and she'll talk to you to see if enzymes would benefit your child. They have been so great for us! For yeast, we've used everything from prescription stuff to naturals like biotin, grapefruit seed extract, goldenseal, capryllic acid, and more. A probiotic may be very beneficial as well. We use a prescription one, or get them from Metagenics (your doc might have to be a member to order from them, I'm not sure about that). I'm trying to remember what else we did for sound sensitivity. I want to say zinc had something to do with it, but can't recall exactly. We have used Kirkman's but there was a recall on their zinc that may be resolved now. We buy a lot of our stuff from Vitamin Shoppe or OurASDkids.com and I read a lot of labels to make sure there's not a lot of junk in the capsules/medication we give. Magnesium is really cheap and our DAN wasn't particular about where we got it. You might want to do some reading on Omega 3's...they are great! We use Barlean's Lemon Swirl (DAN recommended) and our kids love it. Plase feel free to email me with any additional questions. Guest guest
Hi Sara, Where from you bought AIT cds and headphones, any link? Could you do it yourself or had some training in it? Thanks for your help, Sasmita > > > > Hello all, > > I have been reading posts for some time now. I am in awe of all that this group does for their children. My son has SPD. Most of my son's sensory issues, including sound sensitivity, were caused by yeast overgrowth. http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm Adrenal fatigue can also be a cause. Guest guest
Wow, I could've written this same message! We did the listening program, and while it did help, it was miserable (keeping the headphones on my guy was a nightmare!! Treating yeast and detoxing did much more, for way less money, and much more easily. I wish I'd done that first. 3 weeks of DMG did more than all the listening program work even though my guy didn't tolerate the DMG well. Sound sensitivity has been like a barometer for my son's yeast. I think that many approaches like AIT work by helping the body adapt and function in an injured/poisoned state, rather than healing the injured/poisoned state. I think they have their place, especially when the symptoms are bad and take time to heal or when the cause can't be identified, but it's not the same thing. Oh, my guy also needed zinc (he has Pyroluria, you should check for that too, it causes sound sensitivity probably by causing zinc depletion). -Sierra > > > > Hello all, > > I have been reading posts for some time now.
