Guest guest
We took our 27 month old to a DAN doctor here in Dallas. The speech paths seem to think apraxia. But the DAN doctor does not seem to think apraxia. Jack had 5-7 words when he was 16 months old- mama dada, ballcow, elmo. Then he lost them after hand foot mouth disease/anti biotics. He is not vaccinated- I did get the flushot when 7 weeks pregnant and he got the hep b- but no other shots. There is a huge question to whether he is on the spectrum, becasue he has really good eye contact , especally after he gets to know a person. He does have the sensory issues that he is getting SI for. But the DAN dr thinks that it is not apraxia since he did have words. Jack will talk in senstences but it will come out as " ga ga ga ga ga ga " . He used a term that begins with an L but I forgot what he said. In addition to his multivitamin, Children's DHA, and probiotic, he switched to a better digestive enzyme, b12 shots, and folinic acid. Can anyone recommend a good fish oil? We are using the children's dha by Nordic Naturals. The Dr seems to think it is OK. Also, in your experience with apraxia, did your child have speech at one time and lose it? Could you guess at which " L " word the Dr. used- he said it was replacing words with just a few consonants such as ga, ma, ba. Any other input is greatly appreciated.
